Marvel recently introduced a devastating new power The Wolverine know, as A new golden adamantium arrives to enhance Logan's enemies and tries to regain control of his mind. Adamantium is an unbreakable metal in Marvel lore – chained to Wolverine's bones and claws by the villainous Weapon X and their mutation experiments. Now, the iron that has become part of Wolverine's body is making him a target again.
In Wolverine #1 by Saladin Ahmed and Martín Cóccolo, Wolverine battles his old enemy Cyber on the plains of Canada. Logan tortures Cyber, his arms covered in adamantium, and the clash of their battle awakens a mysterious golden ore deep underground. An injured Cyber later encounters this golden metal while fleeing from Wolverine and is possessed by it, with his adamantium is 'infected' and takes on a golden glow.
Fans also get to hear the 'thoughts' of the new band through narration, where criticizes adamantium as “false bell” and revealed plans to take it off the planet. These thoughts also reveal what this new version of adamantium gold really is, confirming that “it was once handled by the right people.” If this tease is what it seems, Wolverine is facing a threat of godly proportions.
Logan's Old Enemy Cyber Suffers Massive Attack / Infection
Despite its rare occurrence, adamantium is a synthetic alloy that does not occur in the natural world. It can't be broken at all, it has one weakness – the unique vibration of Antarctic Vibranium can disrupt its molecular structure, causing it to dissolve. Now, it seems that other risks can be added to that list, such as the ancient metal awakened by Cyber and Wolverine is able to transform existing adamantium into its own form.. This new metal is teased as superior to adamantium, and its consciousness suggests that it has mysterious properties.
That's bad news for Wolverine, as – thanks in part to Weapon X – a a lot of his enemies have some form of adamantium in their system. Cyber is just the first person to have the new golden adamantium, with the cover of Martín Cóccolo The Wolverine #4 showing Wolverine battling a spirited Constrictor, now wielding golden adamantium tentacles. What makes the new metal so dangerous is that it includes the most undead of the living, and it won't be satisfied until Logan is stripped of his adamantium or becomes another drone in his army.
Why the new, natural, golden adamantium hates the synthetic version will be revealed later, though The short names of the metal this issue and the golden color give one compelling impression…
Is Wolverine's new 'gold adamantium' actually Adamantine? If so, the first unbroken bell of Greek mythology has returned to destroy its artificial character.
Is the New Gold Adamantium Really Adamantine?
Logan Has An Interesting History With Godly Metal
Marvel's adamantium takes its name from Adamantine – a mythical, indestructible metal used by the Greek gods. Indeed, in Marvel lore, the god Hercules often wields an Adamantine mace in battle. That makes sense 'golden adamantium' is actually an ancient deposit of Adamantinehas awoken in the present day only to find the gods replaced by supernatural beings and its own heritage stolen by inferior imitations. Indeed, the creator of adamantium, Dr. Myron MacLain was inspired by the legend of Adamantine in creating his original alloy, making adamantium a precursor to Adamantine's legendary form.
Longtime fans will remember that Wolverine has some history with the golden Adamantine, though not the version of Logan from Earth-616. Presented to Greg Pak and Mike McKone Marvelous X-Men #44Captain James Howlett is a version of Wolverine from a similar world in the early 1900s. Howlett is in a romantic relationship with the earthly Hercules, who gave Howlett his Adamantine pillar to fuse with his skeleton. This Wolverine has the same powers as the original, but his Adamantine gave him additional powers, including telepathic immunity and the ability to absorb Cyclops' optic beams from his forehead by releasing them from the air.
Sadly, it seems that the regular Wolverine is about to develop a very different, very antagonistic relationship with Adamantine, if 'golden adamantium' is indeed the legendary metal coming back to claim its due. However, whether the new gold adamantium is Adamantine or not, its mission is very clear – wipe adamantium from the face of the Earth by changing it wherever it appears and having anyone connected to it to get the job done. That means that in the best case, The Wolverine he is about to face an unrelenting war of his enemies, and worst of all, he is about to become a living weapon of some evil forces that don't care.
