He revealed his plan to her early, as the poison was slow enough to retaliate and cut him to pieces before he killed himself. As opposed to going to the Great Beyond or being stuck on Earth as a ghost, Betelgeuse became a civil servant, working in the Afterlife and Neitherworld offices before establishing his own private bio-exorcism organization.
