It was created by Charlie Covell, who is also known for adapting the graphic novel The End of the F***ing World, Kaos it takes place in a world where the Greek gods were real, and still rule in the modern era. It's a fascinating mix of fantasy and modern drama, and manages to be incredibly funny.

The plot revolves around a prophecy that predicts the end of Zeus' rule on earth, something the king of Olympus is confused about and will stop at nothing to stop. A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (2024)
Netflix manages to find amazing TV shows from all over the world to bring Survivor to the US, and one of the latest is a British mystery drama. A Good Girl's Guide to Killing. Originally created by the BBC, A Good Girl's Guide to Killing is based on the 2019 novel of the same name by author Holly Jackson, and touches on everything that makes True Crime so compelling. The show centers on Pip (Emma Myerts), who decides to investigate the death of a local schoolgirl after losing faith in the authorities finding the truth.
The show went down incredibly well with critics and viewers alike, becoming one of the most popular shows on Netflix when it arrived on the platform in August 2024.. While A Good Girl's Guide to Killing has not yet been renewed, there are already discussions of the series continuing to cover other issues of Jackson's novel. The cast also deliver incredibly strong performances, especially Myers in the lead role.
Cobra Kai (2018-2024)
The Karate Kid is one of the definitive movie game franchises, and every entry is dripping with many of the tropes that dominated the genre in the 1980s. However, over the decades, the events of The Karate Kid there have been huge debates (even a running joke on sitcoms like How I Met Your Mother). In particular, the fight at the end of the first film between the hero Danny LaRusso and the antagonist Johnny Lawrence has been heavily criticized – and it is this criticism that has created one of the best shows currently on Netflix, Cobra Kai.
Cobra Kai it is tracking The Karate Kid but set decades later, following the adult lives of Danny (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny (William Zabka). Danny has become a successful businessman, while Johnny is lucky. Before long, the pair put their differences aside and find themselves back in the world of professional karate, which for some reason seems to be taking over their hometown. It's a game full of nostalgia but, at the same time, it stands as an incredibly compelling sports game in its own right.
Eric (2024)
A drama-thriller miniseries Eric, released on Netflix in 2024, manages to be surreal and dripping with wonder throughout. Lived in New York in the 1980s, Eric stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Vincent, a puppeteer in a failing marriage who finds himself increasingly estranged from his friends and family. However, Vincent's life takes an incredibly dark turn when his son, Edgar, 9, goes missing. Vincent then does nothing to find his son, but – perhaps because of his history of drug abuse – he believes that the key to finding him is his great puppet Eric (also portrayed by Cumberbatch).
Eric it has been praised by many critics for its ability to twist and mesh several types, several pointing out that, at times, it is incredibly disturbing. This partly explains why there has been so much popularity on Netflix, as the platform has carved out a niche when it comes to boundary-pushing content. There are only a few shows on the platform Eric however, and a compelling performance from cast lead Benedict Cumberbatch ties the miniseries together very well.
Kings (2024)
Guy Ritchie's 2019 film Gentlemen it starred Matthew McConaughey and Charlie Hunnam alongside an all-star cast, and it proved so popular that, in 2024, the writer-director partnered with Netflix to bring a TV show. Gentlemen in the live streaming environment. Set in the same place as the movie, the Netflix show Gentlemen stars Theo James as Eddie Horniman who, upon the death of his father, inherits the title of Duke Of Halstead and – more importantly – an estate above a secret cannabis factory.
Although the cast is not as star-studded as the movie, James stars alongside the likes Breaking Bad's Giancarlo Esposito and Skins' Kay Scodelario. Additionally, longtime Guy Ritchie collaborator Vinnie Jones is back as Geoff, the no-nonsense wildlife keeper of the Halstead Estate. The script and action are as good as Netflix subscribers can expect from a Guy Ritchie project, and whether you're a fan of the film or looking for a comedy drama based on crime, Gentlemen you will definitely satisfy.
Crown (2016-2023)
Netflix drama, Emmy winning drama The crown is a fascinating account of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. The exhibition is part of a historical period, as it covers various political and world events in the British Empire, from the Cold War to the unemployment crisis under Margaret Thatcher's administration. However, The crown is also an intense family drama that delves deeply into the lives of members of the royal family from Elizabeth's rocky marriage to Prince Philip to her conflict with Princess Margaret over marrying Peter Townsend.
Three actresses play Queen Elizabeth II at different stages of her life – Claire Foy, Olivia Colman, and Imelda Staunton – and they all leave their mark playing the most famous woman in the world. The crown it has faced many arguments of historical inaccuracy, but if it is taken for its purpose, as a play, it is an impressive, highly self-indulgent series that shows that, indeed, the head that wears the crown is heavy.
Squid Game (2021-Present)
Capitalist censorship has never been as violent or dramatic as it seems Squid game. Released in the fall of 2021, this South Korean Netflix series has taken the pop culture zeitgeist by storm. It sees 456 financially strapped contestants compete in a series of dangerous children's games in the hope of winning a grand cash prize. Class warfare has become a popular subject in film and television, but many offerings in this subgenre have a “eat the rich” mentality. Squid game it's all about the brutality of being on the losing side of the capitalists, most of them.
While Squid gameThe violence is stomach-churning, impossible to look away from as the sets, costumes, and cinematography show what a masterpiece the series is. And brutal death is not scary Squid game – the length of which they have not entered to get the least chance to get out of debt, the struggle that you may be able to keep up with.
Better Drive Saul (2015–2022)
When Breaking Bad's the end is nigh on the stories of Walter White, Heisenberg and the occasional reluctant sidekick Jesse Pinkman, anything that follows was always going to be a Herculean task.. But Better Call Saul he was never interested in being an overworked hypocrite, either the spin off centered on Bob Odenkirk's slick lawyer actually managed to do the unimaginable for many, surpassing the original's greatness.. It did this by never stooping to imitate what came before it.
Odenkirk's Jimmy McGill – a prime example of what Goodman would become in his time Breaking Bad – it was not the most obvious character, but his own Breaking Bad The journey is as compelling and upsetting as Mr. White's. And while Better Call Saul it relies on the benefit from returning characters, and ultimately transcends Breaking Badit stands on its own merits with stunning gameplay and a subtle take on a basement that's a joy to explore.
Band of Brothers (2001)
That is the highest praise Band of Brothers it's fitting that it's arguably the gold standard of HBO's TV drama history. With playable versions of the characters assembled from the original figures, it is like it was as influential more than two decades after its release as it was. Stunningly executed in an evocative, accurate depiction of the military campaigns of the Second World War, it is one of the greatest military campaigns of all time and its appeal is not at all limited by its military nature.
Produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, Band of Brothers tells the story of the 506th Company known as Easy Company throughout World War II. Ultimately led by Richard D. Winters (a wonderful Damian Lewis), the company sees action at the forefront of the US military campaign in Northern Europe. The best comedy TV shows on Netflix
Sexuality Education (2019-2023)
Sex Education was a breath of fresh air when it premiered on Netflix in 2019. It's not easy to make a TV show about teenagers, especially one that feels both contemporary and timeless. Sex Education. Many get it wrong, and fall anywhere between being sloppy, condescending, qualifying, or trying too hard. Netflix cleverly finds the balance, however, with a show that's sweet and heartfelt, completely funny (which it often is), emotional, risky, and has a strong message across a wide variety of issues, but it's self-contained.
What does Sex Education the best performance, finally, its characters. Even if the plots become less logical, they are all supported. The show is authentic and honest, and its characters are very similar to real teenagers – their problems are related or offer a teaching moment or two, and often both. Sex EducationThe cast is fantastic, and full of actors who are already doing great things (Ncuti Gatwa could power the TARDIS with a megawatt smile and pure charisma alone).
Seinfeld (1989-1998)
Netflix struck gold when “a show about nothing” came to its catalog. What started out as one of the simplest plots ever, courtesy of Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David, became an iconic and influential television series. The best Sci-Fi & Fantasy TV shows on Netflix
Supacell (2024)

Supacell focused on a group of five Black UK residents with a family history of sickle cell disease. The group develops superpowers and ends up being followed by a shadowy secret organization. While the sci-fi aspects of the plot may be very different, the execution is the same. To mention the sci-fi aspects of 3 Physical Problem are fantastical is an understatement, as the show deals with concepts and technologies that redefine the laws of physics itself (which, of course, means the visual effects are incredibly impressive). The show explores how the more advanced and advanced technology is, the more opportunities people have to use their wildest ideas. While some dystopian sci-fi stories are comfortably far-fetched, viewers will find themselves questioning the events Black Mirror episodes can happen – and usually won't be alarmed by the response.
One Piece (2023-Present)
Based on the hugely popular manga and anime (which started in 1997 and is still running), Netflix's live-action One piece it's both respectful practice and a great start for new fans. Given the weight of lore behind it One pieceThe characters are the characters, that's no small thing, and it depends on the well-made, fun story that is packed in the sea of heat. The swash-buckling story follows the colorful Straw Hat Pirates as they search for the legendary “One Piece” treasure. It's very difficult, but there's a nice lightness to it that should give anime fans hope that another series could follow for live action.
Thanks to the plot of the episodic story, with chapters of a week's journey that takes the pirates, under Iñaki Godoy's Monkey D. Luffy, to new islands with new challenges that arise, it is also a Netflix show to immerse yourself in. not by starving at the same time. And while there are changes to the source story, they're very clever, and the aesthetic's commitment to making it seem like it's from the anime world might rub off some of the bruises felt because of them.
The Witch (2019-Present)
While the screen resolution of video games is slowly losing its bad reputation because of games like this The Last of Us, A witch it also had literary merit, as it was based on a series of fiction books of the same name by Andrezej Sapkowski. The show focuses on stoic monster hunter Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) and his adventures, as he is finally tasked with protecting the Crown of Princess Ciri of Cintra (Freya Allan). A witch season 1 nicely establishes the fantastic world of the show, and seasons 2 and 3 expand on it and the complex relationships of the characters.
It is recommended all over the world, A witch it was particularly highlighted by its strong performances, which made Cavill's departure after season 3 even more disappointing. Liam Hemsworth will step in to play Geralt A witch season 4, and he has some big shoes to fill, but hopefully, fans will give him the shake he deserves. But regardless of the future of the series, A witch has three excellent seasons under his belt.
Stranger Things (2016-Present)
Once House of Cards, Stranger Things is arguably the most important Netflix Original the platform has ever released. With the most gripping twists in Dungeons & Dragons history, The Unknowns street-level success is far more than its lofty concept might suggest, largely due to its excellent acting.
Trope-heavy, Stranger Things it marries many species with a delicious combination that appeals to all types of species: its horror is successful (especially after the introduction of Vecna); its future features are complete; and the plot will never disappear under its own weight like other shows of such length It is lost again Heroes. The Umbrella Academy (2019 – 2024)
While Stranger Things perhaps Netflix's best-known sci-fi ensemble show, The Umbrella Academy even better, it grows in quality with each release. Based on the fantastic comedy series by My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way, the show deals with a small end-of-the-world problem. Again and again. It centers around a group of misfits with the kind of superpowers you won't see in Marvel or DC Comics, The Umbrella Academy it's as funny as it is subversive, exploring some incredibly dark material while throwing in must-see dance numbers.

Best TV Shows on Netflix
Bad (2019-2024)
Bad debuted on Netflix very late in its life cycle, hitting the stage just before season 4 arrived in 2024. It started life on CBS before moving to Paramount+, and the show became an incredible hit. Netflix subscribers shouldn't be disheartened that it just got a streaming service just as the final season arrives, because this makes the supernatural horror show a must-watch experience. Taking the best features of shows like Supernatural and mixing them with crime dramas, Bad you have a lot to offer.
The layout of Bad focuses on a team of investigators – psychologist Dr. Bouchard, Catholic scholar David Acosta, and technologist Ben Shakir – who work for the Catholic Church. Baby Reindeer (2024)
Netflix is renowned as a streaming platform for releasing original shows that capture the cultural zeitgeist, and in 2024 they're doing it again Baby Reindeer. The game is relatively difficult to define compared to the genre. While technically considered a dark comedy drama, Baby Reindeer it has more than enough tension to satisfy thriller, horror, and true crime fans alike. The story is based on the true experiences of creator Richard Gadd and was adapted from his play of the same name – all of this revolves around her experience of being stalked and sexually assaulted.
Gadd also stars in the show as a fictional version of himself, although the (cool) star of the show is undoubtedly Jessica Gunning as Martha Scott. Again no one was more perfect than Tim Burton to bring Wednesday Addams to TV too Wednesday. The series sees Jenna Ortega play Wednesday as she is sent to the mysterious Nevermore Academy. There, he must solve a decades-old murder mystery.
While it's impossible to say who is the better Wednesday between Ricci and Ortega, the latter anchors the character firmly in Gen-Z while maintaining Wednesday's dark, deadpan demeanor. Ortega's Emmy-nominated performance, as well WednesdayThe talented supporting cast does i The Addams Family the franchise feels as good as it ever was, and the mystery at the heart of season 1 does Wednesday perfect for binge watch. Wednesday broke Netflix's record for the most hours watched in a week for an English series with 341.2 million hours, dropping Stranger Things season 4.
The best animated TV shows on Netflix

Based on the card game of the same name, Exploding Cats it was underappreciated by many critics, but it hit all the right funny notes to make it a hit among many Netflix subscribers. Exploding Cats centers on God as the central character who, after the Board of Directors of Heaven finds his performance lacking, turns into a cat and is sent to Earth to reconnect with his responsibilities. However, to make things even more difficult, Hell catches wind of the plan and decides the same treatment would be a good idea for Satan/Beelzebub, who has never been so evil. Cast members Tom Ellis as God and Sasheer Zamata as Beelzebub both perform well, with Netflix subscribers enjoying shows like Bigmouth again Jack Horseman you certainly won't be disappointed.
Big Mouth (2017-Present)
With bodies changing at an uncontrollable rate and hormones running wild, puberty can feel like living the life of a cartoon character, and Big Mouth takes this concept literally. Nick Kroll's comedy Netflix series follows a group of middle schoolers as they discover adolescence, many with the guidance of “hormone monsters” — creatures who offer advice and guidance based on their hormonal status.
Big Mouth it's offensive and vulgar, but it is as sweet as it is salty. It's a show about sexuality and the body that refuses to sanitize puberty, which is often an incredibly messy business, both literally and figuratively. The animated nature of the show allows it Big Mouth really exploring what these young people are going through, while treating them with kindness. A thread can be called Big Mouthbut he also has a big heart.
BoJack Horseman (2014-2020)
For a talking horse show, Jack Horseman it can be almost too real. Will Arnett stars as the titular anthropomorphic protagonist, a character best known for playing on a '90s sitcom. Wanting to stage a comeback, BoJack plans to write an autobiography with the help of ghostwriter Diane Nguyen (Alison Brie). This forces BoJack to face his failures, demons, and many fears that exist.
Adult cartoons have been popular since the 2000s, and while many of them are over the top and weird, Jack Horseman it is one of the most grounded offerings, despite its original premise. Jack Horseman it tackles so many serious, real issues with such authenticity it can be uncomfortable to watch, but the show maintains its acerbic sense of humor throughout. There really isn't a show like it, and it's one of the best on Netflix.
