What is to come Malicious Intentions reboot reveals new plot details and visuals for the reimagined version of the ’90s cult classic, as it evolves into a TV series. The original cast of Malicious Intentions brought to life the story of a conspiracy, centered on two brothers who are willing to do anything to maintain their high status in society. A TV reboot was announced in October 2021, with the series receiving a full order by Amazon in April 2023. The show is expected to draw inspiration from the original while keeping its own story updated for the modern era.
Now, Entertainment Weekly released pictures of Malicious Intentions reboot, revealing details about the reimagining of the movie set in madness. A variety of actors and actresses can be seen attending various events, teasing the myriad of characters wrapped up in the story. This features siblings Caroline Merteuil (Sarah Catherine Hook) and Lucien Belmont (Zac Burgess) talking to various characters, including an intimate moment between Lucien and Annie Grover (Savannah Lee Smith) at the pool. This shows the story of brothers trying to maintain their status after a shooting incident that puts their lives at risk.
Co-runners Sara Goodman and Phoebe Fisher also explained how Greek college life reflects the spirit of the original while adding new twists. This includes Annie at the center of the story, the daughter of the Vice President of the United States Caroline and Lucien want to seduce her. Goodman also emphasized giving the series a timeless feel while keeping it within a modern setting. There will also be nods to the movie, including an appearance by Sean Patrick Thomas and other references throughout. Check out the photos and what Goodman and Fisher had to say below:
Fisher: We talked a lot about what it would be like to peek behind the curtain of a strange world we had never seen before, where it felt like it had its own structures.
Goodman: Part of the conversation was: How do we stay true to everything we loved about the film but put it in a world we’ve never seen before? Modern, but we don’t do social media. It feels like our characters are reading newspapers. We really wanted to put it in this kind of timeless place.
More to come…
