The Fantasian was released in 2021 as an Apple Arcade exclusive, leaving many PC and console fans of developer Hironobu Sakaguchi, who was widely credited for creating The ultimate dreamvery depressed. If players didn't have access to an Apple device, they wouldn't be able to play The Fantasian. Fortunately, as with most Apple Arcade games, it's being ported to Square Enix under a new name: The Fantasian Neo Dimension.
While The Fantasian is a simple turn-based JRPG with straightforward environments and basic combat, using multiple touch screen mechanics that enhance the overall experience. Naturally, bringing it to consoles makes sense, as it will open it up to a much wider audienceand it stops one of the best mobile games right now from being locked to Apple's screens forever. However, fans may wonder if much of the experience has been lost in the transition, and if The Fantasian suitable for playing on a non-mobile device.
Fantasian Feels Best on Mobile Devices
The lack of touchscreen controls complicates the experience
One of the major changes in between The Fantasian again The Fantasian Neo Dimension it's a switch from touch controls to traditional controls. Instead of directing characters by pressing with a finger, players will use joysticks or the keyboard to move from point A to B. Additionally, while players will cast a spell on the original. The Fantasian using fingers to point it, now they will use a joystick or mouse.
These changes may not seem too drastic to some, but they make a big difference to the overall feel of the game. The preview said that the lack of touchscreen controls does The Fantasian very little interactive experienceand it takes away a lot of the game's feel. It reduces one of the best JRPGs of all time on mobile to a strange story.
Eurogamerpreview of The Fantasian Neo Dimension said camera switching between scenes was made too difficult to navigate without touchscreen controls. In addition, there are no touchscreen controls on the Nintendo Switch, meaning it's not comparabledespite having the ability to include touchscreen controls. It's a shame, as this could have allowed those who enjoyed the tactile nature of the original mobile experience to enjoy all the new features while retaining their beloved style.
Fantasian Neo Dimension Looks Clean But Not Better On Consoles
The Place Looks More Empty
Another big improvement is its console version The Fantasian it has on the mobile version there are crisper and cleaner visuals. While The Fantasian it doesn't have incredibly detailed areas that are very well reviewed Octopath Traveler 2, bumping a mobile game up to higher resolution screens requires an increase in visual clarity, and Square Enix has clearly done this work in the remaster.. The beautiful dioramas that make up the background of the game appear in more detail in the re-release, giving fans a greater appreciation of all the hard work that went into creating them.
However, despite the added clarity of the visuals, Eurogamer's preview revealed that this makes the areas feel empty. While the small, compact screens of mobile devices keep the entire space feeling busy, when the game is blasted on a big screen, including the Nintendo Switch screen, it doesn't look impressive.. It's a small change, but certainly one fans should keep in mind when considering whether to pick up the console or mobile version of the game.
Fantasian Neo Dimension Adds Many Much-Needed Features
Remaster Adds English and Japanese Voice Acting and more
However, it's a big factor to consider when deciding whether to download The Fantasian Neo Dimension via Apple Arcade or on console or PC are all new features introduced in the remaster. Not only is the visual improved, but new features, including Japanese and English voice-overs, new difficulty options, and the addition of a battle music selector, are also being added.. These changes will greatly improve the overall experience, improving on areas that fans have previously had issues with, such as the lack of voice-overs.
These changes do The Fantasian Neo Dimension The definitive version, and the most relevant information in general. Although not strictly grounded, and certainly not as surprising as the improvements made in Persona 3 Reload they reinvent, transform the experience for the better. Naturally, this all but guarantees to play the console again PC version of The Fantasian Neo Dimensioneven if it doesn't have the tactile feel of the Apple Arcade version and has a hollow feel to the world.
