After the big reveal, I'm now sure that Sony's Spider-Man Universe has big plans for Knull after his debut. Venom: The Last Dance. Venom's third film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe will be released on October 25, with its subtitle heavily suggesting that this will be Venom's last solo outing. His”The Last Dance“he will be followed Kraven the Hunter on December 13, releasing the third Spider-Man villain origin story in the franchise. Sony's releases after that, however, seem to be empty, which made me think about the future of the franchise.
The lack of confirmed future projects is not unusual for cinematic franchises like Sony's Spider-Man Universe. Following two consecutive flops with Morbius again Madame Webthe gap in the slate of confirmed releases makes it seem like the studio is waiting to see how its next two films play out before jumping in. Two more flops, on the other hand, could spell doom for the franchise. Anyway, the villain reveals Venom: The Last Dance it makes me think that there really are plans in place for the future – and it's safe to say they're big.
Knull Is The Arch-Villain Of Venom: The Last Dance
Knull Was Tormented And Named In Latest Trailer
Sony released the final trailer for Venom: The Last Dance and revealed the arch-villain to be Knull, the God of the Symbiotes. The trailer revealed that Knull is the creator of Venom and is the person responsible for sending a wave of symbiote monsters to Earth. Short of a few great images of the god on the throne, little else has been revealed about Knull – but there are plenty of comic books that could help differentiate Sony's plot and character.
In Marvel Comics, Knull is an ancient god who lived in the space between the cosmos before the Celestials disrupted his dark realm with light. In response to the intrusion, Knull created All Black the Necrosword from the original symbiote, and severed the Celestial's head, creating an eternal feud between the godlike beings. Knull will then create symbiotes from “living in the abyss,” a necrotic substance over which he has complete control. Knull maintained direct control of these symbiotes as a hub for their hive mind and used them to conquer worlds.
This is where Knull created the first symbiote dragons that included Grendel and Grendel's mother. After Thor kills them, Knull's connection to the symbiotes is severed, causing them to gain independence and a desire to do good while imprisoned on their home planet of Klyntar. He would be freed centuries later thanks to renewed contact with the dormant Grendel symbiote and freed by Carnage, who proceeded to wreak havoc on the universe and Earth with catastrophic attacks by symbiotes under his control.
Knull's resurgence seems to be there Venom: The Last Dance it is consistent with its narrative. Needless to say, my hopes are firmly pinned on Grendel making his live-action debut and helping provide SSU with its most famous scenes yet. Actually, Grendel will only scratch the surface of the greatness that Knull brings to the overall SSU narrative. – and it's something I hope Sony intends to put to good use.
Sony Just Launched Their Own Thanos Version of the MCU in Space
Knull Is At Least A Thanos Level Threat
To this day, until Kang or Doom show their levels of power, Thanos remains the MCU's most terrifying villain with a lasting legacy the Multiverse Saga never seems to shake. The impact of Thanos and his Infinity Gauntlet came to define the MCU and helped it deliver the second highest-grossing film in history with its climax. Avengers: Endgame. Knull is supposed to be Sony's answer to Thanos – After all, Thanos was powerful but still dying. Knull, on the other hand, is the god of the eldritch.
However, that doesn't mean Sony is going to end its own Thanos in the space of one movie.
Thanos was introduced in 2012 The Avengers and it remained an ugly backdrop within Marvel's mixed-up narrative for six years before he spoke in earnest Avengers: Infinity War as an arch-villain. Obviously, Sony is taking a different route with Knull after understating his presence Venom: Let There Be Carnage, when Venom says to Eddie, “The Hive's 80 billion years of worldwide knowledge can blow your little brain.” That doesn't mean, however, that Sony is going to end its own Thanos in the space of one movie. At least, I hope not.
Knull's Story Deserves More Than One Film To Tell It On Screen
Knull's Presence Should Affect Other SSU Characters
Hope always remains Venom: The Last Dance is about to unseat Knull as its franchise's top villain. His debut Venom: The Last Dance it may be the foundation upon which SSU is about to transform its narrative, finally connecting its roster of antiheroes with a threat that transcends its earthly hang-ups. It's also fitting that Venom – the one character currently keeping the SSU going – is the one to unite these characters against his main villain.
The “The Dark Lord” The launch of Marvel Comics dealing with Knull's invasion of Earth and the universe includes many problems and encounters that can only be seen clearly through multiple screen appearances. The obstacle Sony faces is that some of the Marvel heroes directly involved with Knull – such as Thor and the Silver Surfer – remain under Marvel's exclusive lease.. However, its cast of characters – including Morbius, Kraven, and Spider-Man himself – are ready to take their place, helping to ensure that Knull's impact is felt to the same extent as Thanos of the MCU.
Venom 3 Title Makes Me Hopeful For Knull's Future
Poison Can Die
There is one caveat, however, when it comes to Knull's arrival on Earth – and it's another subtitle for the third Venom movie, “The Last Dance,” it significantly suggests. Namely, it could lead to Venom's death at the hands of his creator, as Venom literally meets his maker. While it would be a bold move for Sony to kill off its most financially loyal character, it's sure to be a good thing.

“The Last Dance“It suggests that Knull will emerge victorious in a moment similar to Thanos' victory Avengers: Infinity Warto prepare him for future competition against the remaining SSU characters. It may be here that Sony's Spider-Man Universe finally introduces its eponymous hero, making him replace Venom as its main hero.. This may eventually culminate in Venom's revival a few years later, since, after all, it's pretty hard for a symbiote (or any comic book champion, for that matter) to stay dead.
Of course, there is still a small chance that is not so exciting Venom: The Last Dance it will actually end with both Venom and Knull dying in a moment of heroic self-sacrifice. I'll willingly admit that this will still be an epic season for Venom and Eddie Brock, ending his impressive SSU trilogy and leaving a grim legacy for future movies. At the risk of sounding dramatic, this would make the death of the SSU all the more likely – meaning that its survival, ironically, depends on Knull's.
