Warning: Contains spoilers for Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction. One of the most notable anime of 2024 was without a doubt Production +h.'s Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead Demon. Not only was the legendary manga Good evening PunpunThe film's Inio Asano has finally been animated, but in a surprising turn of events, the film's duology was initially announced to have been split into twocourt anime for viewing on Crunchyroll, making it a great addition to the spring and summer anime seasons.
Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead Demon was an excellent addition to Crunchyroll's library, but unfortunately few people would agree with that sentiment. While there was a lot of excitement about the anime upon its initial announcement, it soon fell by the wayside for a number of reasons, so unfortunately, Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead Demondespite being one of the best anime of 2024, it was one of the most underrated and ignored anime of 2024, as well. It's a shame it didn't get much attention during its run, but with the entire series available on Crunchyroll, there's no reason anyone shouldn't get it.
Why Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction Was So Underrated in 2024
Why Nobody Was Watching Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction
Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead Demon was undeniably underestimated and there are a few reasons why this happened. To begin with, Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead Demon premiered near the end of May, just a few days after it was announced, meaning people already had a lot of anime they watched in the spring when it debuted, and Crunchyroll also gave very little publicity after the initial announcement. Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead Demon was ignored, at least partially, due to bad publicity and excessively fierce competitionand it's not the first time something like this has happened to an anime.
Another problem was the anime's timing. Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead Demon released new episodes at 11pm Eastern Standard Time (EST), a time when most people would be asleep, and with the general lack of advertising, it was very difficult for most people to remember it was on the air. This probably wasn't Crunchyroll's fault, as they release anime relative to when they air in Japan, but that doesn't change the fact that Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead Demon had trouble building an audience because it aired too late for people to watch.
The biggest problem the anime faced, however, was with the subtitles and general translation. Not only did the English dub make blatant changes to the script that often bordered on mistranslation, but for some reason, the Japanese dub's subtitles defaulted to the English dub, despite the timing and dialogue rarely matching and the text and of the background dialogue never being translated. Crunchyroll finally fixed Dead Dead Demonsubtitles, but by then it was too late and Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead Demon's terrible captions have become the biggest turn-off for potential fans.
Dededede Destruction's presentation of Dead Dead Demon as an anime cannot be matched
One of Crunchyroll's best-directed anime of 2024
As underrated as Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead Demon was, there are many reasons why someone should give it a chance. For starters, while it's not the flashiest anime to watch from a visual standpoint, Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead Demon has always had creative and excellent animation, both for action scenes and life momentssomething that was perfectly complemented by Inio Asano's unique and expressive character designs. The series' director, Tomoyuki Kurokawa, doesn't have that extensive of a history of directing anime, but he still did a perfect job of bringing the story to life.
The writing, of course, was the biggest reason to watch the anime. Very similar to Inio Asano Good evening Punpun, Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead Demon is a hauntingly dark story focused not just on war and violence, but on the tragedies people face in everyday life, with the bullying and eventual suicide a character goes through being disturbingly realistic and a major driving force of the plot. Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead Demon always manages to create a dark and mature narrativeand as disturbing as it can be at times, it's still great to watch because of that.
As dark as the story may be, of course, the light-hearted elements are what make it work so well. The main hook of the anime is how the darker story is kept in the background while the main focus is on the shenanigans in the lives of the main cast and, thankfully, the contrast between Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead Demoneach other's derogatory narratives enhances each other's strengths with how much they emphasize each other's strengths. Few stories are great at balancing derogatory tones, but Dead Dead Demons it's perfect at that, and it's worth watching because of that.
Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction is political satire at its best
Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction has some of the best political satire in anime
Another part of what makes writing in Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead Demon so great is its biting political satire. Not only is the alien invasion plan used as a clear metaphor for immigration and the often absurd hatred people have for illegal immigrants, but as the humans and aliens fight, Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead Demon repeatedly makes blatant and thought-provoking statements about war and how radicalization can harm people on both sides of a conflict. It's incredibly moving, especially for a series that often devotes its runtime to largely absurd dialogue and humor.
The way the series satirizes governments is also great to watch. The government's actions are an important part of the plot, and in addition to its general incompetence, the series is always forthright in portraying governments as being largely selfish and uninterested in helping people if it is inconvenient, and it goes to the point that the Japanese government in Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead Demon leaves Earth behind to be destroyed in what is essentially a nuclear fallout while still trying to be in command from a safe distance.
The best satire, however, comes from the series' main villain, Kohiruimaki. Featuring Kohiruimaki, the series shows the dangers of sensationalism and propaganda as alternative news about aliens slowly transforms Kohiruimaki from a mild-mannered person into a spiteful terrorist willing to let countless people die if it means getting a chance to take over. government control. . General, Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead Demon has some of the best satire and political commentary of any story in recent yearsand it's almost worth watching for that alone.
The main theme of Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction ties everything together in the anime
The final piece of what makes Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction so good
Above all, what does Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead Demon just as good is how it handles its main theme of human connections. The worst things in the plot happen because of people who only think about themselves, whether it's the government, Kohiruimaki, or even Kadode in the flashback arc, and it's only thanks to people motivated solely by the desire to help others that it ends up being a happy ending. . Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead Demon uses its darker plot to emphasize the importance of human connectionsand as simple as it is, the execution is highly affective here.
Overall, there's very little not to love Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead Demon. Between its great visuals, its stellar political satire, and the excellent job it does balancing light and dark tones, Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead Demon excels in virtually every category in which an anime can succeedand his only problems were completely out of his control. There has never been an anime like Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead Demon in the best way possible, and it's the kind of show everyone should give a chance if they have the time.
