Yes, by now you should be obsessed with Neel, the best Star Wars character in a while

Notice! This article contains minor spoilers for Skeleton Crew episode 4.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew remains an inherently enjoyable show, buoyed by episode 4's intriguing story additions, characters, and poignant message delivered by the lovable Neel. Skeleton CrewThe cast finds themselves on a new planet in episode 4. Thinking they had found their way home to Attin, the team quickly realized that Kh'ymm's coordinates were Skeleton Crew episode 3 sent them to a similar planet called At Achrann.

With the mystery of Skeleton CrewAttin, lingering on the show's history, I was intrigued to see if new developments would be found in episode 4. After last week's episode pivoted a bit, episode 4 falls victim to a similarly underdeveloped plot. That being said, it's filled with the same charm and lovable characters as always, making the series something I simply can't dislike. Focusing on a character for whom I made my love very clear in my review of Skeleton Crew episode 1, episode 4 continued the show's wave of success.

What Skeleton Crew Episode 4 lacks in story, it makes up for with immense heart

Neel's journey is a timely and lovely message

The journey in At Achrann is largely devoid of other plot elements until the final moments when SM-33 Skeleton CrewThe resident android of , reveals some secrets about Attin. Beforehand, the children and Jude Law's Crimson Jack are thrown into a conflict between two tribes in the ruins of At Achrann. Overall, the significant plot development of the Lost Planet of Endless Treasure takes a backseat, which initially disappointed me, but was replaced by such a strong emotional core that I didn't mind.

Neel is one of the best characters in the series, potentially due to how extremely cute he is. Episode 4 makes this even more captivating, giving Neel a story that everyone in the world can learn from. Star Wars Galaxy. Neel's insistence on not harming others and being compassionate, kind, and caring is extremely timely in a world full of negativity, both in-universe and in the real world. This simply solidified Neel as one of my favorites Star Wars characters in recent years, even telling him a little love story to really melt my heart.

Jude Law's Jod Na Nawood plays perfectly with the young Skeleton Crew cast

Initially, I assumed it would take the entire season for Jude Law's Jod to start liking the kids he's partnered with. However, Skeleton Crew episode 4 proved otherwise. Law is excellent, embodying Jod with a sense of charm and charisma that makes him immediately likable. Additionally, his interactions with Nick Frost's SM-33 are hilarious and a highlight of the episode.

This, combined with Law's relaxed performance, makes the connection between Jod, Neel, Wim, KB and Fern one that I can't wait to see more of…

Then there are the elements that suggest Jod is affectionate towards the children, from him saving them from getting into a bloody inter-tribal battle to embracing them warmly upon retrieving them. This, combined with Law's relaxed performance, makes the connection between Jod, Neel, Wim, KB, and Fern one that I can't wait to see more of. It's worth noting that Ryan Kiera Armstrong does her best work here when Fern reaches her limit.

Skeleton Crew episode 4 suffers from familiar pacing issues

SM-33 transforming into skeleton crew episode 4

My review for Skeleton Crew Episode 2 mentioned the series' inconsistent pacing, something that continued somewhat into Episode 4. Although the episode was longer than its two predecessors, its ending was incredibly abrupt. The final scene of the episode is a humorous one in which Neel faints after almost being attacked by SM-33. I watched this with a smile on my face waiting for a scene or two to end the episode, only to find the end credits.

This came as a shock and may be an unwanted side effect of Skeleton Crew initially being presented as a film before being turned into a TV show. However, these pacing issues aren't enough to justify the show as a failure, given that almost everything else makes it so easily enjoyable. If Skeleton Crew continues to exhibit these characteristics, I can't see my love for the show getting old anytime soon.

Pros

  • Skeleton Crew's themed message is touching and makes Neel an even more lovable hero
  • Jude Law is a fantastic addition to the young cast and his dynamics with each character are excellent.
  • Attin's mystery remains compelling thanks to the development of the SM-33
Cons

  • Skeleton Crew episode 4 suffers from some familiar pacing issues
  • The Skeleton Crew's story doesn't advance much in episode 4
