Jamie’s quest for power is heading into deadly territory in yellow stone Season 5, Part B. Dutton’s son has spent the last two seasons struggling to find himself since learning he was adopted by Kevin Costner’s John after his biological father murdered his mother. Part A of Season 5, in particular, saw Jamie grow unhappy with John becoming governor of Montana, frustrated with being further removed from control of the family ranch while also trying to be a part of his son’s life.
THE yellow stone The end of Season 5, Part A, saw things come to a head for Jamie as, under the influence of Market Equities’ Sarah Atwood, he publicly called for John’s impeachment. Beth, enraged by his actions, threatens her adopted brother saying that their war is just beginning, having also previously discussed with her father the possibility of taking Jamie to the “Train Station”, the infamous region where the family dumped many bodies and secrets. . in the past. In response, Jamie asked Sarah about the possibility of looking for professional assassins for John and Beth, setting up a life-and-death struggle in Season 5, Part B.
THE yellow stone The Season 5 Part B cast includes the return of Wes Bentley as Jamie and Kelly Reilly as Beth alongside Luke Grimes, Kelsey Asbille, Cole Hauser, Brecken Merrill, Jefferson White, Gil Birmingham, Ryan Bingham, Wendy Moniz, Forrie J. Smith and Dawn Oliveri. Despite leading the cast for five seasons, the final set of episodes will not see the return of Costner due to his scheduling conflicts, making the Horizon: an American saga films, leaving a large power vacuum between the Dutton brothers to claim ownership of the ranch.
Before the show’s final return, Screen speech interviewed Wes Bentley to discuss yellow stone Season 5, Part B, how John’s absence will affect Jamie and his war with Beth, the character Jamie is more afraid of than his sister, and his thoughts on a potential return for the sequel in production and several spinoffs in the works.
Jamie and Beth’s war is “It’s going to be intense”
Bentley also shares why Jamie never achieved forgiveness
Screen Rant: I can’t wait to finally be able to watch Part B. They’ve been very secretive about it so far. My first question for you is, obviously, we left off Part A with Beth and Jamie about to go to war. Jamie is starting to look for killers to go after Beth and John. Do you personally think there is a path to forgiveness and redemption for Jamie in the second half of the season?
Wes Bentley: Well, I could say this about any season, I think there’s always been some kind of path to reconciliation, but it doesn’t seem like the show is going to go that route. I don’t want to say anything that would spoil what’s to come, but it’s Yellowstone, so it’s going to be intense and a little dark, but also very dramatic and, I think, satisfying for the audience.
Bentley is tight-lipped about secrets for more than just avoiding studio troubles
This is especially true in regards to Costner’s departure and John’s absence.
So obviously another big news this season is that John is absent from the final episodes here. Obviously, Jamie himself dumped his father not too long ago on the show. I’d love to know how John’s absence really impacts Jamie, not just in his war with Beth, but in general in the final episodes.
Wes Bentley: Well, I’m not going to say too much about how it impacts this season, just because for the fans, I don’t want to spoil it. For me, when I watch any little thing, I notice it and say, “Oh, I knew what happened!” [Chuckles] So I’m not going to say too much about it, but with TV you’re always prepared for something big like that. Your big star could suddenly disappear, or the show could be cancelled, or you could die. [Laughs]
So, you’re always ready for that big change to happen, and you just enjoy every experience in the moment, because you never know what’s coming next. But I will just say about Kevin that he’s obviously a big part of the show, and he’s been amazing, and he’s a great guy, a great actor to work with. I’m so glad I had the chance to do this.
Jamie is even more”Terrified“The possibility of Rip coming after him
“… is also someone he has a connection with.”
I know you don’t want to get into spoilers, but one thing I’d love to hear is that obviously Rip is a big supporter of Beth. He is willing to go to the ends of the earth for her. He’s in Texas, and I’m curious if, as things heat up, there might be some kind of conflict between Rip and Jamie in particular.
Wes Bentley: Yeah, I’m not going to say what’s coming, but I will say that I think one of the biggest things Jamie is afraid of is, “Is Rip coming after him, more than Beth, even?” [Chuckles] It’s funny, because with Rip and Jamie, they had a history, and in the second season, especially, we see that there’s a connection between the two of them, and you forget that they grew up together a little bit, in a way. So yes, Rip is someone he’s afraid of, but he’s also someone he has a connection with. So what would happen if Rip was the chosen one, what would really happen between them? It’s interesting [to think about].
Bentley is open to returning yellow stoneSequel and spinoff of
“I don’t know anything, it’s literally above my pay grade…”
I see I have enough time for one more question, so I’d love to ask as well. There are many reports of a yellow stone Season 6 or a sequel. Again, we don’t want to get into spoilers. I don’t know what happens with Jamie this season, but if that door is open, what do you think about continuing Jamie’s character this season?
Wes Bentley: Oh, sure, I’d be interested in that. I don’t know anything, it’s literally above my pay grade, I only know what I know, and they just tell me when to show up and say a few words. But yeah, you know, it’s a difficult character to play. It would be difficult to continue like this, but it has also been a good challenge, which I have enjoyed. So yes, I would, of course, be open to that.
