Marvel needs to go slow when introducing the X-Men to the MCU
If Kevin Feige and the MCU creative team are looking for another way to introduce the X-Men, they could look Psylocke #1. The titular heroine is not only a member of the X-Men, but also does mercenary work on the side. Psylocke #1 reveals that she keeps the two separate. Just as Ms. Marvel is a mutant who works alone, Psylocke and others could also be independent operators at this point. It also helps that Psylocke’s rescue of the politician’s daughter echoes the first scene from 2012’s Black Widow. Avengers film.
Marvel appears to be heading in a similar direction when introducing the X-Men to the MCU. As Marvel and Disney built toward the first Avengers film, they cast the lead actors one by one, giving them solo films before finally bringing them together. This then freed the Avengers creative team to tell your story without wasting time on exposition. If Marvel continues to seed the X-Men in a similar way and follow the approach in Psylocke #1, then the mutants will be box office champions, just like the Avengers.
