Wolverine's all-black costume might actually be his best and this Marvel cosplay proves it

Wolverine is officially back in black – at least in the world of cosplay, where a dedicated fan brought one of Logan's best costumes to life. While this look was already badass in the comics, seeing it come to life in a cosplay debut only strengthened its potential in the Marvel Universe, and may even convince some that it's time for a return.

Utz's Wolverine cosplay racked up more than 51,000 likes and a flurry of comments in German and English.

Markus Utz (@the_bavarian_batman on Instagram), a German Batman cosplayer, is best known for his incredible portrayals of Batman, including his hospital charity cosplays. Although Utz earned his reputation as the Bavarian Batman, he has recently shown that his love for the color black goes beyond the Dark Knight and extends to Wolverine's iconic black costume from his X-Force days.

Not only does this cosplay serve as an epic throwback, but it might also be Wolverine's best look yet, especially considering the overwhelming positive reaction it's received on social media, garnering tens of thousands of likes.

Wolverine X-Force #1 2008 Black Costume

Between the two posts presented in this article, Utz's Wolverine cosplay racked up more than 51,000 likes and a flurry of comments in German and English. Despite the comments being in two different languages, the conclusion is clear: this is a badass cosplay. While Logan's classic yellow costume will always have a special place in fans' hearts, there's no denying that sometimes things look better in black. In Wolverine's case, the black suit gives him an edge that complements his typically gruff and aggressive demeanor. Featuring the costume's signature red eyes, Utz's cosplay proves to be a faithful recreation of the X-Force costume.

Fans first saw this black and dark gray costume in X Force #1 (2008) by Craig Kyle, Christopher Yost and Clayton Crain, where Cyclops tasked Wolverine with reforming X-Force as a black ops team. The 'black' in black-ops was taken very literally, with new black outfits for team members. However, since Logan's time in the second incarnation of X-Force ended, this costume has rarely been seen in canon. That's why Utz's portrayal of this epic look is such a welcome return.

Cosplayer proves he has a growl worthy of Wolverine

Cosplay is much more than just high-quality costumes

While the quality of Utz's Wolverine cosplay is undeniable, it's not just the outfit that makes it stand out. Utz also shows off Logan's adamantium claws, with the posing of these weapons being exceptional – particularly in the post above, where he uses the claws to capture a unique, poster-worthy photo. Furthermore, Utz sports sharp teeth and a growl that further enhances the personification of the character. With a costume worthy of a movie, claws ready to cut and a Wolverinegrunt worthy, this cosplay gets a solid 10/10.
