Wolverine vs Colossus decides who would win forever, ending with the perfect symbol of their bond broken

Warning: Spoilers for Wolverine: Revenge #3Wolverine and Colossus will have their final confrontation, ending their friendship and camaraderie with the perfect symbol. After killing Mastermind and Sabretooth in the previous issue of Wolverine: RevengeJust like Omega Red and Deadpool earlier in this issue, Logan comes face to face with Piotr one last time in Russia.

Wolverine: Revenge #3 by Jonathan Hickman, Greg Capullo, Tim Townsend, FCO Plascencia and Cory Petit sees Wolverine crossing each of the names off his list, leading to a confrontation with Colussus. Despite Colossus trying to dissuade Logan from ending things with a fight, the pair get into a fight.

This last fight between the two former friends is hard-hitting, with Colossus taking advantage of his strength to land some good blows, even managing to rip off one of Logan’s arms. But Wolverine finally proves to be the winner of his fight stabbing Colossus in the head. After reattaching his arm, Logan buries him in Russia, marking his grave with an “X” so his loved ones can find his body.

Wolverine’s battle against Colossus settles the question of who would win forever. Both X-Men are incredibly durable fighters, as Colossus’ metallic skin and super strength make him a powerhouse, while Logan’s adamantium skeleton and healing factor mean he can recover from virtually any blow thrown at him. . Both of their strengths as fighters are put to good use in this battle, with Colossus ripping off one of Logan’s arms being an impressive feat. But Logan’s healing factor allows him to surpass Colossuspreparing him to finally achieve victory in this confrontation.

This final fight between the two symbolizes the broken bond.

Most of all, this fight is bittersweet. Wolverine asks why Colossus betrayed the X-Men to be with the Brotherhood, and Piotr explains that he had to do what was best for his family in Russia. Logan says that he and the X-Men were Colossus’ family, before Colossus responds by saying that he and Logan have always been friends, but that wasn’t enough. It’s an incredibly tragic exchange that not only highlights Colossus’ loyalty to his family, but also how the X-Men were the first family Wolverine knew.

The most tragic part of their fight is the way it ends. When Logan buries Colossus, he marks his grave with an “X” for others to find. It’s the perfect symbol to represent this broken bond. As terrible as Colossus betrayed not only Wolverine but also the X-Men, this tombstone symbolizes that Logan still remembers Colossus as an X-Man. It’s an incredibly tragic moment, symbolizing their bond as members of the X-Men and how both men are left poorer by Piotr’s betrayal.

Wolverine: Revenge resolves the question of who would win between Wolverine and Colossus, crowning Wolverine as the winner of their fight. But more than that, this final fight between the two symbolizes the breaking of their bond, and Piotr’s tombstone is a visual manifestation of the broken friendship. Logan killing one of his oldest friends is not presented as triumphant. It’s bitter and empty, marking this fight with Colossus as a tragic end to wolverine seeks revenge.
