With Switch 2 on the way, Pokémon Gen 10 games should focus on the series’ biggest problems

The Nintendo Switch 2 is currently on the horizon and its imminent arrival has left many Pokémon fans wondering what this means for the future of the franchise. With the Pokémon games getting bigger and better with each new installment, there’s a lot of potential for new mainline titles on the Switch 2. Unfortunately, the recent Pokémon games have also brought their fair share of problems that need to be resolved at the time of launch of this new console.

While no official release date for the Switch 2 has been announced yet, it is believed that Nintendo is planning a release in the first half of 2025. This means it will be released just in time for the launch of the Switch 2. Pokemon Legends ZA. However, to ensure this game is a success, Pokémon GameFreak developer must be careful not to make the same mistakes what he did with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

The initial launch of Scarlet and Violet may have been very successful, but it was evident on the first day of its release that the games were plagued with numerous bugs and glitches. Character models would twist and contort, players could fall through the world, and save files would even become corrupted, thus deleting people’s save data. Although Many issues were eventually fixed from the gamesmany players were dissatisfied with the initial state of these newer releases.

It is very likely that these numerous bugs and glitches were present due to strict deadlines imposed during development, as GameFreak is rushing to release a new Pokémon I play every year. This left very little time to improve games before they were released, causing many issues to go unnoticed until it was too late. Fortunately, with Pokemon Legends ZA not releasing until 2025, the company may be taking time to ensure it avoids a repeat release of Scarlet & Violet.

Pokémon games need much improved graphics on Switch 2

Graphical improvements need to be on par with other Switch titles

Compared to several other popular games on the Switch, such as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the Pokémon the games seem to be lagging behind in terms of graphics. Additionally, there were times when the frame rate in recent Pokémon Switch titles also struggle, despite the fact that several other games run much better on the Switch. Fortunately, knowing that the Switch 2 will have vastly improved graphics and hardware capabilities means that Pokémon games will finally be able to catch up, even without perfect optimization.

The release of the Switch 2 means there’s a lot of potential for Nintendo video games in the future. The opportunities for immense graphical improvements and whatever comes in the form of new Switch 2 features could open a lot of new doors. As long as GameFreak’s developers have enough time to really polish the studio’s future titles, then the future of Pokémon the franchise actually looks brilliant.
