Lawrence also confirmed that many of the same minds behind the original series have returned behind the scenes, and that the awakening will be a hybrid of old and new.

I think this is very close to the answer, and I think in a good way. Most of the creative team behind the camera and most of the team in front of the camera are very passionate and excited, so very close.

We’ve talked a lot and I think the only real reason to do it is because of the combo. A: People who want to see what the medical world has become for the people they love, which is part of any successful reset. But B: I think this show has always worked because you see young people getting into the world of medicine, knowing that the young people who go there are super idealistic and do it because it’s a calling. There is no “rich doctors play golf” cliché – that’s not what it is anymore. So I think whatever it is, it would be a huge mistake not to do a combination of the two.

Since this is the most logical progression of the story, Braff’s willingness to return is welcome news.

a revival could add a host of new supporting characters to allow for a role reversal.

Based on Bill Lawrence’s comments, it is clear that revival Scrubs would be a direct continuation of the series, not a reboot. With actors like Braff, Faison and Chalke back on board, the revival could catch up with the practicing doctors and see how their lives have evolved in the years since 2010.
