Will Josh Heuston be back for Heartbreak High? Your Dune: Prophecy Filming Conflict Explained

Australian actor Josh Heuston could see his career skyrocket with his appearance in the next Dune: Prophecy series, but it could cost him his role in Loud disgust. Debuting on Netflix in 2022, Loud disgust is a soft reboot of the 1994 series of the same name and revolves around a group of Australian teenagers and their romantic lives. HEuston plays Dustin “Dusty” Reid, the quintessential nice guy popular musician. Dusty identifies as bisexual, and most of her storylines revolve around her relationship with Harper.

Scheduled to premiere on November 17, 2024, on HBO, Dune: Prophecy couldn’t be more different than Loud disgust. Set in the same universe as Denis Villeneuve’s hit Dune films, Dune: Prophecy is a prequel series that takes place approximately 10,000 years before the events of Dune. The show is about the formation of the Bene Gesserit and stars Emily Watson and Olivia Williams as Valya and Tula Harkonnen, the sisters who establish the powerful Brotherhood. Among the recurring cast is young Josh Heuston.

Josh Heuston likely reduced his role in Heartbreak High season 2 to film Dune: Prophecy

Dusty was barely a consideration in the show’s second season and probably won’t be in the third season

When the second season premiered in 2024, Josh Heuston was demoted from series regular to guest star in the Loud disgust cast, appearing in just three episodes. This left many fans perplexed, as Dusty was a major factor in Season 1. But in the season 2 premiere, Ant explains to Harper that Dusty was expelled from Hartley High because he “Knocked out his reputation in front of the whole school” —a reference to Dusty spreading the false rumor that Amerie and Jojo slept together.

Although it has never been officially confirmed, the reason for Heuston reduction Loud disgust display time is likely due to your Dune: Prophecy commitments, as both series were filmed in the summer of 2023 (through The direct). And while Loud disgust has been confirmed to return for a third and final season, it’s doubtful it will include Heuston, as Dusty wasn’t actually part of season 2’s main storylines. Furthermore, a Instagram post of the actor celebrating Loud disgustThe season 2 premiere was subtitled: “proud of you all.” If Heuston were still on the show, it probably would have read: “proud of us all.”

Josh Heuston’s Dune: Prophecy Character Explained

He plays Constantine Corrino, the emperor’s illegitimate son

The next Dune: Prophecy focuses on the early days of the Bene Gesserit, so it will obviously be a female-driven show, which means Josh Heuston won’t be the lead. Instead, he will play a recurring character, Constantine Corrino, the illegitimate son of Emperor Javicco Corrino (Mark Strong), described as “Torn between seeking his father’s approval and his own happiness.” (through Variety)

While there may not be much overlap between Loud disgust and Dune: Prophecy viewers – in addition to Heuston’s fans – the actor’s work on the Australian teen series definitely prepared him for the role of Constantine. Loud disgust is all about the angst of its teenage characters, and Constantine’s desire to carve his own path while also pleasing his father has teenage angst written all over it. Again, Josh Heuston is not the focus of the upcoming fantasy series, but Dune: Prophecy could very well make him an A-list star.

A reboot of the 1994 television series Heartbreak High is a comedy-drama created for Netflix and follows several students at Australian high school Hartley High. A map containing the names of several students and their sexual adventures is discovered on the school wall, and now several students must attend a sex education course together.
