Will it happen? Everything we know

Since the show went off the air in 2010, a revival of Scrubs
was in high demand, but will the medical comedy ever return? Debuting in 2001, Scrubs Concerns a young doctor named JD (Zach Braff) who begins his career at Sacred Heart Hospital and tries to survive the hectic world of medicine. With a full and powerful ensemble cast including Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke, Scrubs manages to balance surrealist and imaginative humor with legitimately heart-wrenching drama. The series had a respectable run of nine seasons before they quietly left the air at the turn of the decade.

Unfortunately, the end of Scrubs was somewhat clouded by controversy, as plans to end the show after the 8th season were adjusted when the series was renewed for another year. Season 9 didn’t follow many of the beloved characters from the first eight years, and the Med school Rebrand was something of a notorious TV flop despite the best of intentions. In the minds of many longtime viewers, Season 9 let off the strong conclusion of Season 8, and hopes for a return have flourished in the decade and a half since the original series’ cancellation. Now, the Scrubs Reboot is seemingly gaining steam.

Read Lawrence’s full comments here:

I think it’s getting really close to being figured out, and I think in a good way. Big chunks of the creative team behind the camera, and most of it in front of the camera, are all super invested and excited, so very close.

We’ve already talked about a lot, and I think the only real reason to do this is a combo. A: People who want to see what the world of medicine was like for the people they love, which is part of any successful reboot. But B: I think that show always worked because you get to see young people fall into the world of medicine, because young people who go there are super idealistic and do it because it’s a profession. There is no cliché ‘rich doctors playing golf’ – that’s not what it is anymore. So I think that, no matter what it is, it would be a giant mistake not to do like a combo of those two things.

He’s the senior doctor at the hospital“, said Braff, suggesting that the actor has thought widely about his character’s future. With this being the most logical progression of the story, Braff’s willingness to return makes for welcome news.
