What does this mean for the wicked
The musical's dominance will continue
This home release date comes at the perfect time for the 2024 film, at a time when the Evil the box office is finally slowing down after a record-breaking run between US Thanksgiving and Christmas. In addition to surpassing the 1978 Grease as the highest-grossing Broadway musical adaptation of all time at the domestic box officerose to a total of more than $575 million worldwide. Since it reportedly cost around $150 million, its break-even point is probably around $375 million, a point it passed some time ago.
In addition to increasing the film's overall profits at the end of its theatrical release, the Evil the home release will also benefit from opening on a holiday weekend with no new films hitting theaters. While Christmas Day presents a slew of awards season contenders with the premieres of Little baby, Nosferatus, A complete strangerand The Fire WithinNew Year's Eve is devoid of major launch titles, as is the first weekend of January 2025. This will allow Evil to shine even more in the film market with the arrival of the New Year.
