Evil It passed a major box office milestone after more than a month in theaters. The 2024 film, nominated for four Golden Globes, is an adaptation of the hit Broadway musical of the same name, which in turn is adapted from Gregory Maguire's 1995 novel about the origins of The Wizard of OzThe Wicked Witch of the West. After the film opened the weekend before Thanksgiving, the record Evil box office receipts quickly surpassed US$500 million worldwide, in addition to surpassing those of 1978. Grease to become the highest-grossing Broadway musical adaptation in domestic box office history.
Put Deadline, Evil It passed a major domestic box office milestone in Christmas week as its home release quickly approaches on December 31st. As of Saturday morning, the musical film, directed by Jon M. Chu, is projected to earn a 3-day total of $19.85 million on the traditional weekend and a 5-day total of $32.1 million on the holiday weekend. This will bring its cumulative domestic total to $424.6 million, Easily surpassing the $400 million milestone in North America.
