Dragon Age: The Veil Guard has four playable races for players to choose from – Humans, Elves, Dwarves and Qunari. Each of these lineages is involved in the tradition of Dragon Age series, and the first three have been present as playable races throughout the franchise. Upon starting the game, the first decision players will face is choosing a bloodline to assign to the protagonist, Rook. However, with most bonuses depending on Rook’s faction, this choice can be difficult to make, as the effects of his bloodline are not immediately presented to the player.
Although most choices after character customization can be changed, such as name and appearance, this does not apply to things that are essential to the character. For example, players can specify the Tower, but cannot change its general class. Once selected, the player cannot change Rook’s bloodline.meaning any choice you make at the start of the game must be a well thought out decision. While players are guaranteed a fantastic adventure no matter what they choose, a lineage seems like the superior decision – especially for players exploring the world of Thedas for the first time.
Who are the Qunari?
Tall, horned, gray humanoids
The People of Qun, better known as Qunari, are known for its large, muscular build, horns, and grayish or metallic skin. Its features add another option to the character customization screen, where players can choose from various unique horn designs and decorations. Although technically, “Qunari” is actually the name of their main religion, and the in-game race is descended from the Kossith. In fact, the name can refer to an individual of any race that follows Qun, but the genetic lineage is still called Qunari in the customization screen.
The Qunari are considered “feared and envied“for their enhanced strength, and it has been said that they originate from a distant continent. They are known to have great reverence for dragons and hold them in high regard. – some have even theorized that they could be descendants of dragons and elves due to their horns being read as dragon-like. However, they still recognize dragons as the dangerous beings they are and believe they should be hunted, so playing as Qunari will not prevent any dragon fights.
Although there are several human and elf companions, there is a Qunari who can join the player’s party – Taash, who was featured on Vows and revenge series (through the Dragon Age YouTube channel) that preceded the launch of The Veil Guard. Viewers of the series who anticipate starting a playthrough may choose to play as a Qunari if the character of Taash resonates more with them and if they want their Tower to have a specific kinship with them. However, no matter the player’s choices regarding his party companions, there are several other reasons why he should consider playing as a Qunari.
The Qunari are exclusive to the Dragon Age series
Playing as Qunari offers gameplay available nowhere else
In Dragon Age: The Veil Guard, Many of the choices you make in character customization can affect interactions later in the game. For example, if players choose for Rook to have scars or tattoos, then they can look in the mirror and allow the player to determine their opinion of them, such as whether they regret it or not. It’s no surprise that the larger options like bloodline and class also result in a more personalized player experience.
How the Qunari are exclusive to BioWare Dragon Age scenario, players who decide to make Rook part of this lineage can rest assured that they will get maximum immersion in their game. However All bloodlines have dialogue exclusive to them in certain scenariosthe species that was made specifically for the series will certainly have some of the best related content. While all races equally have a role to play in the lore of Thedas, the Qunari are the only option not available in countless other fantasy games.
The Qunari originate from a different homeland than the elves, humans, and dwarves, and are often considered outsiders to Thedas. This origin can actually make them the best choice for players who are new to the series. Players who are not versed in the previous installments of the Dragon Age they may want this to be reflected in their game, as it can be the most organic way to experience a new world – through the eyes of someone who is also unfamiliar with it.
How to play a Qunari tower better
Ideas for playing a Qunari character that fits into Dragon Age lore
With their strong constitution, players predicted that the Qunari would be suitable for the warrior class. However, in the current version, there is not much difference between the four playable bloodlines and none of them receive specific bonuses. Although players can still consider playing as a Qunari warrior for the roleplay factor. The only strain that works differently is the dwarfwhich has the disadvantage of not being able to use magic. The character creation menu states that despite their disability, they are known for their prowess in battle, but a Rook dwarf will receive nothing to make up for this.
While many may not think of making their Qunari Tower hornless, as its horns are often its defining feature, those who do may consider some pieces of Qunari lore from within the Dragon Age franchise. The lack of horns in Qunari is a genetic mutation associated with being intimidating – some even remove their horns to portray themselves as such. Those without horns are also often favored in Qunari society and find themselves in higher positions of power. Players who want to give their Tower more personality can choose this option for a more opposite look or a prestigious story.
Class, faction and bloodline are the most important choices when customizing your character in the bedroom Dragon Age game. As the most distinctive bloodline available to players in the Dragon Age series, a Qunari Rook is the best option for those who want a unique experience compared to other fantasy games where elves, dwarves, and humans are common. While there is no objectively best choice between humans, elves, and Qunari in terms of combat, those who choose to play as the latter will likely get the most out of the story of Dragon Age: The Veil Guard.
