He found his answer in Eddie Rojas, Hayley's former nanny, accused of stealing a man's Lamborghini. After Mickey solved the case, Eddie took over Izzy's role as Mickey's driver until halfway through Season 3.
After a few episodes delving into Eddie's sweet, happy personality and interest in fitness and crochet, Lincoln's lawyer Season 3 Episode 5 ended tragically with a truck intentionally running Eddie and Mickey's car off the road. The devastating accident culminated in Eddie's death in the diver's seatwith Mickey being brutally injured but able to crawl out of the backseat window. Eddie's death proves that Mickey's actions are very dangerous to those around him
Despite how beloved the character became after his debut Eddie's death was important in the story to increase the stakes of Mickey's dangerous case and the potential to expose DEA Agent De Marco. Additionally, Mickey's flashbacks with Maggie in Lincoln's lawyer season three and the guilt of feeling responsible for Glory Days' death had already highlighted the truly dangerous nature of his work. Mickey often takes deadly risks to win his cases, and despite warnings from his loved ones to be careful, these gambles have resulted in the harm or death of people he cares about.
Eddie is the last person whose death Mickey feels responsible for, and this leads him to finally follow the advice to be cautious that he has been given for the past 15 years. Hayley blames Mickey for Eddie's death and claims that everyone around her dies, which really opens Mickey's eyes to the pain his risky behavior brings to himself and others. Eddie's Death Is a Missed Opportunity for The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4
Eddie could have been a great addition to Mickey's office dynamic
While Eddie's death was a tragic but necessary loss for Mickey's character development, his future absence is disappointing. Lincoln's lawyer season 4 would have benefited from having room to further develop Eddie's character and relationship with the rest of the legal team, as his unique personality and interests provided a whole new and exciting dynamic between the ensemble. Not to mention, Mickey now needs another driver after Eddie's death, as Izzy has taken over Lorna's role as office manager. Of course Mickey's car rides will be slower Lincoln Lawyeafter the murder of Sam Scales.
