A critical member of the Empire’s Inquisition
A Chaplain is an essential member of any successful Space Marine enterprise, acting as a spiritual leader to boost morale while watching for any signs of corruption within their ranks. It’s incredibly easy to spot a Chaplain in a crowd of Space Marines thanks to his black armor emblazoned with skull iconography, exuding an intimidating aura to anyone in his presence. Reinforcing the hearts of his fellow Space Marines, a Chaplain is the first line of defense against War Hammer 40Kof the Chaos Gods or other heretical influences on the battlefield.
Chaplains not only lead sermons from the safety of a chapel, but they also lead their legions of Space Marine followers to the front lines of battle.boasting fierce and unwavering combat efficiency. Being dedicated in their efforts to spread the Emperor’s will, much of the decoration on their armor is intended to invoke feelings of mortality, giving way to the idea of eternal life in service to the Empire. While players unfortunately won’t be able to witness the Chaplain’s fighting prowess during the campaign, Space Marine 2The ending of suggests that they may have a chance in the future.
The secret identity of the Space Marine 2 chaplain
A long-standing grudge spanning two hundred years
After successfully killing Imurah and repelling the Chaos hordes, players are rewarded with the discovery of the Ultramarines Chaplain’s secret identity. Serving under the code name Quintus, the Chaplain is the implacable and insulted Leandros returning from the first Space Marine game, watching Titus and his every move since the start of the Marine 2 history. Once serving as Titus’ subordinate, Leandros betrayed his trust by reporting him to the Inquisition on suspicion of Chaos corruption, causing him to be stripped of his post and punished for nearly two hundred years.
Giving in to the fact that Titus has proven himself in the eyes of his battle brothers and the Ultramarine chapter, Leandros still threatens to overthrow Tito if he suspects the slightest hint of corruption in Chaos. Given Titus’s unusually powerful resistance to Chaos, the Chaplain isn’t the only one who raises suspicions against him, as his squadmate Galadriel goes through the same movements of distrust that Leandros did in the first Space Marine. Despite initially causing the same rift in his team due to a lack of transparency, Titus learns to open up to his new and improved team, regaining the trust to develop an even stronger bond between them.
A personal grudge that won’t die easily
A new direction for the potential Space Marine DLC
Leandros makes it clear at the end that No matter what Titus and his Ultramarines achieve, there’s probably nothing the players can do to fully clear up their former comrade’s treasonous suspicion.. Despite this broken relationship, Titus has shown that he is capable of growing as a person, rather than just a skilled fighter, after mending his fractured relationship with Galadriel over the course of the game. While it would take a lot of work, there’s still a chance Titus could somehow make peace with this old enemy in a future story DLC.
If the cliffhanger ending of War Hammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 If anything, players could be treated to a future story expansion or potentially even a sequel that will delve even deeper into the two titular characters’ relationship. The long history between Leandros and Titus would create a unique mix of grudging respect and animosity on the battlefield, further developing their long-standing relationship. Although both Space Marines have to restrain themselves from fighting each other in the presence of their Chapter Master, there are more pressing threats in the galaxy at large than their grudges.
