Why Sauron Is Watching After His First Defeat in The Lord of the Rings

Sauron was the main antagonist in Lord of the Rings series, creating some confusion as to why he is a giant eye. Sauron is the main villain of JRR Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings book series, where the Dark Lord resides in the evil land of Mordor, sending legions of Orcs to instill his will in Middle-earth. The character was adapted for film and television in two very different ways. On Prime Videos The Rings of PowerSauron appears in physical form as a man and an elf. In Peter Jackson’s film trilogy, Sauron is a giant eyeball.

To understand Sauron, you must first understand the villain’s history. He is a Maia, a being sent to Middle-earth by the Valar who was corrupted by the Dark Lord of the First Age, Morgoth. After the defeat of Morgoth, Sauron rose to prominence in the Second Age of Middle-earth, which is demonstrated in The Rings of Powerthat was when he used evil will to forge the One Ring, a magical object that would allow him to maintain dominion over the free people of Middle-earth.. But The Lord of the Rings takes place in the Third Age, showing a very different Sauron.

Sauron defeated many of his enemies, including Elendil, the human king. In response, Elendil’s son Isildur took his father’s sword and cut off Sauron’s One Ring, destroying his physical form..

Without the ring, Sauron was unable to directly impact the war during The Lord of the Rings

After losing the One Ring, Sauron’s physical body was destroyed because his power was poured into the object at its creation. He was believed to have disappeared from Middle-earth, but his essence still existed. Throughout the Third Age, Sauron slowly rebuilt himself and his strength, with his ultimate goal being to retrieve the One Ring to return to his powerful physical form..
