Why Kamino was erased from the Jedi Archives

Despite this importance, The introduction of Camino in Star Wars Was shrouded in mystery, as the planet was curiously erased from the Jedi archives.

Kamino was the home of the clone army

in Attack of the clonesObi-Wan Kenobi goes on a hunt for Kamino after piecing together a number of clues following the assassination attempt on Padmé. The quest is ultimately how he discovers that the planet has been erased from the Jedi archives, though he still doesn’t know how or why. He is still able to find the planet, at which point he discovers that Kamino houses a cloning facility that has produced a massive clone army to serve the Republic.

This comes as a great shock to Obi-Wan, not only because he (and the Jedi Council) had no idea that such an army was being created, but also because Nala Se, one of the key scientists on Kamino, pointed out that a Jedi Sir. Named Sipho-Dias was the one to request the creation of the army. In the end, it was revealed to all be part of Palpatine’s plot. The Clone Army was specifically created to take down the Jedi by Order 66, just as the Clone Wars were orchestrated to bring down the Republic.

The planet was erased from the Jedi Archives by Count Doku

The connection to Palpatine’s plot is precisely why Kamino was erased from the archives by Count Dooku.. An early discovery of the clone would have jeopardized the entire operation as the Jedi would have been suspicious. The clones needed to be discovered at just the right time, and, in the end, they were. The revelation comes just before the Battle of Geonosis, which kicks off the Clone Wars. The Jedi and the Republic are effectively backed into a corner in which they need the clones, no matter how convenient the timing of their discovery was.

The necessity of the clones does not exactly stop the acceptance of the army of the Jedi and even their involvement in the war from being quite strange. It was more than a little suspicious that a Jedi had apparently made the unilateral decision to order a clone army and that the clones were ready just in time. Nevertheless, the Jedi accepted and worked closely with the clones, which spelled their demise only a few years later.

What happened to Kamino after the Clone Wars

The fate of the clones and Camino is truly one of the great tragedies of Star Wars. As shown in The bad batchDuring the Dark Times, the remaining clone troopers were of little use. The empire either weapons or discards them, and Obi-Wan Kenobi Revealed that some even ended up on the street for this reason. Camino’s fate is revealed to be even worse than in The bad batch.

Kamino and the Kaminoan cloning science was pivotal to Project Necromancer and Palpatine’s resurrection plans. After Emperor Palpatine’s jarring return in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Star Wars Need to explain exactly how the Sith Lord came back. The bad batch did some heavy lifting in this respect, filling in many of the gaps by revealing that during the Dark Times, Palpatine became obsessed with creating Force-sensitive clones – something that resulted in his return and, by extension, Rey Skywalker’s Birth.

However, this was not a simple effort. Palpatine needs the help of the Kaminoans, Nala Se in particular, as they are Star Wars Greatest scientific minds when it came to cloning. Palpatine eventually gets his hands on Nala Se, but to avoid the Kaminoans using cloning to benefit anyone other than the Empire, Camino is destroyed in The bad batch Season 1 finale.

tragic, The bad batch Reinforced how expendable the clones and Kamino really were to Palpatine and the Empire. They had no qualms about using both to their advantage and destroying them or discarding them when they no longer served. The attack on Kamino was particularly crushing because it took the clones from even a home planet when they were already left with so little. Camino may have started as a mystery in Star Wars Because it was erased from the Jedi archives, but it was one of the saddest stories of the franchise.
