Blink twiceZoë Kravitz’s directorial debut left viewers wondering why Geena Davis’ Stacey would help Slater King (Channing Tatum) abuse the women he brought to the private island. Considering Stacey’s minor role in the movie, it’s a fair question, though Kravitz and her writing partner, ET Feigenbaum, provide some clues. In the acclaimed psychological thriller, Blink twiceThe cast of characters, including waitress Frida (Naomi Akie), who is down on her luck, are whisked away to the private island of tech mogul Slater King. What seems like a few days of debauchery is revealed to be much more sinister in Blink twiceIt’s the end.

Filled with flights of seemingly endless champagne and drugs of unknown origins, the female guests seem to be having a great time, until Frida and Sarah (Adria Arjona) realize that something is off. Blink twice Hints at his twist throughout the film’s runtime before finally confirming that Slater and his male friends abuse and assault the women nightly before erasing their memories. Created from the island’s flowers, Blink twiceSlater’s memory-erasing perfume allows Slater to avoid accountability, but it doesn’t quite explain why Stacey, the only woman in Slater’s scheme, would help the men abuse the women who visit the island.

Geena Davis’ character is more than just Slater’s assistant

Although the script is not very explicit about it, Geena Davis’ Stacey is Slater King’s sister. Early casting announcements revealed that Davis would play the billionaire tech mogul’s sister and assistant (via Exclaim!), although the frazzled Stacey doesn’t make much of her connection to Slater in the film. When she was first introduced at Slater’s Gala, Stacey seems like a typical personal assistant. She micromanages Slater’s schedule, gives him advice, and handles any logistics at the drop of a hat. This includes arranging the mysterious red gift bags from the island, which, Frida learns, contain the perfume that erases the memory.

As the movie continues, Stacey seems to be under a lot of pressure. Frida runs into Stacy as she struggles to carry gift bags and, later, encourages her to relax by the pool. unable to take a break, Stacey is constantly on the move, although she disappears at night when the men are performing their abusive acts. Once Frida discovers that taking shots of snake venom is the antidote to the memory-erasing flowers, she encourages the other women to participate. Not realizing it’s poison, Slater’s sister takes a few shots – and then she remembers Everything.

One massive clue to Stacy’s backstory, and why she’s helping Slater King, is that she’s the only woman in her brother’s entourage. Although it is shocking to Frieda that Stacey would rather protect her brother than seek justice for the survivors he abused, Davis’ character plays a crucial, and all too real, role in Kravitz’s film. Stacey represents the women who are complicit in the behavior of dangerous men. Whether to avoid confrontation or abuse, women like Stacey turn a blind eye instead of taking a stand.
