Justin Russo’s two sons, Roman and Milo, have yet to reveal any magical abilities in Wizards Beyond Waverly Place Despite being part of the Russian family tree, there are a number of possible reasons for this. A lot has happened since Wizards of Waverly Place ended, including Justin’s marriage to a mortal woman named Giada and the birth of their two children. Unfortunately, Justin also abandoned the wizarding life after WizTech fired him because of a mysterious incident with a unicorn.
Wizards of Waverly Place proved that being a wizard is highly genetic, so It’s somewhat surprising that Roman and Milo didn’t display any magical powers before Wizards Beyond Waverly Placeeven though Justin no longer practices magic. Of course, only the first 9 episodes of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place the first season was released and although Wizards Beyond Waverly Place season 2 has not yet been confirmed, it could be coming. Even without upcoming episodes or a second season, there are several reasons why Milo and Roman might not have powers.
Justin’s children may be too young to have their powers in Wizards Beyond Waverly Place
Wizards Of Waverly Place’s revealed powers don’t appear immediately in Wizards
At the beginning of Wizards Beyond Waverly PlaceNeither Roman nor Milo have any idea that magic is real, much less that their father and aunt, Alex Russo, are wizards. They quickly learn this and more when Billie, a teenage witch, comes to live with them and train with Justin. Even after discovering the truth, Roman and Milo do not display natural magical powers.
In the final episode of the 9 released so far, Billie uses a power glass to temporarily transfer magic to Roman, who struggles to master a simple spell. At the moment, Roman seems to have only been able to do a small amount of magic because of the glass. This doesn’t mean that Roman (and maybe Milo too) doesn’t have latent powers. Roman and Milo may be too young to have already gained their powers.
Roman and Milo may be too young to have already gained their powers.
In Wizards of Waverly Place, the youngest of the three Russo brothers, Max, only acquired his powers at the age of 12. The precise ages of Billie, Roman and Milo have not yet been revealed, although the cast of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place can provide a general estimate. Janice LeAnn Brown, who plays Billie, is 14, as is Alkaio Thiele, who plays Roman. Max Matenko, who plays Milo, is a few years younger at 11.
Given that Roman and Billie are probably the same age and Billie clearly has powers, It could be that Roman has magical powers and hasn’t explored them yet. This would make sense considering Roman had no idea his father was a wizard or that magic was real. Milo is probably too young to have developed his powers yet.
Justin’s children may not have acquired the magic gene because they are only 1/4 wizards
Like Justin’s mother, Roman and Milo’s mother is a mortal woman
Milo and Roman might just not be wizards. Just like Justin’s mother Theresa, Roman and Milo’s mother Giada is not a witch. This means that Roman and Milo would only be 1/4 wizards. It’s unclear how wizarding genetics work Wizards of Waverly Place or Wizards Beyond Waverly Placebut it may certainly be that they have no powers because of this. Alternatively, perhaps only one of the two brothers develops powers.
Milo and Roman might just not be wizards.
This seems somewhat unlikely based on the parallels between Wizards of Waverly Place and Wizards Beyond Waverly Place alone. There are several character substitutions in Wizards Beyond Waverly Placewhich suggests that the new Russo brothers will have powers, just like their Wizards of Waverly Place counterparts did. If this is true, his powers will probably appear in the next episodes.
Justin’s Children Will Likely Gain Powers in Wizards Beyond Waverly Place Season 1 Finale
Milo and Roman may discover their powers in the big finale
Of course, there is much more to come Wizards Beyond Waverly Placelargely because an evil hooded figure was revealed in the final moments of episode 9. Given the big reveal that would be Milo and Roman’s powers, It would make sense for the show to hold off on the brothers learning they have powers until a final showdown at the end of Season 1.. This is also supported by David Henrie (who plays Justin Russo), indicating that the question about his powers would be answered in the first season.
Wizards Beyond Waverly Place It could surprise audiences, of course, but all signs currently point to Milo and Roman having powers they haven’t yet discovered. It would be particularly strange if the show focused on the Russo family but didn’t give powers to the next generation of Russos. It will be exciting to see how this issue is addressed in the rest of the Wizards Beyond Waverly Place season 1.
