Why doesn't Wallace tell Helen he knows about the case in the Black Doves season 1 finale?

Wallace Webb (Andrew Buchan) discovered that Helen (Keira Knightley) was cheating on him in Black Dovesbut he confusingly did not tell his wife that he knew about her affair. At the end of Black Doves In the first season, Helen's double life as a spy was almost revealed. Dani (Agnes O'Casey) told Wallace that his wife was having an affair, and although he denied it at first, he clearly believed her. Although Wallace was deeply suspicious of Helen's affair with Jason Davies (Andrew Koji), he did not openly confront her about it and instead pretended it didn't even happen.

In the madness that was the final episodes of the series and all the deaths that happened in Black DovesWallace's decision to ignore Helen's infidelity may have gone unnoticed. It's strange, though, how easily he let his wife of 10 years and the mother of his children off the hook for cheating on him. Other than an important question that was interrupted by Agent Perryman, Wallace didn't even try to get Helen to confess. Strange as it may seem, Wallace had some good reasons for ignoring Helen's infidelity in Black Doves.

Wallace loves Helen and partly blames himself for her having an affair

Wallace loved Helen enough to forgive her and knew he wasn't Helen's perfect husband

The biggest reason Wallace didn't confront Helen about her affair was simply because he loved her. He told Helen this after he found out about the affair and confessed that he had loved her since the day they met. Wallace did not confront Helen because he valued his marriage more than he wanted to expose Helen's affair. He loved the life he built with her and knew that exposing Helen's secret would put everything at risk. Wallace said it best: “You fight for what you love, don't you?” and he clearly decided to fight for his marriage.

Another factor in Wallace's decision was the fact that he blamed himself to some extent. When he told Helen, Wallace knew he wasn't perfect and there were ways he could disappoint her. Wallace seemed to be very aware of how he could have been a better husband to Helen, which probably made it much easier for him to forgive her.. After all, he had a very demanding job and wasn't always attentive to Helen, so Wallace probably thought he had made Helen unhappy in some way.

Wallace and Helen potentially getting divorced would be a big deal for his new career move

Getting divorced while becoming Prime Minister would be a disaster for Wallace's political career

Another, much less poignant reason Wallace didn't confront Helen about her affair may have been his political career. As Reed explained, after the prime minister was implicated in the recording of Ambassador Chen's death, he planned to resign from his position. This means that Wallace will likely become prime minister in Black Doves Season 2, and his political career had been on the rise since long before that point. It seems likely that, along with his love for Helen, Wallace also decided to ignore her affair to maintain his chances of becoming Prime Minister..

It seems that it was a combination of Wallace's love for Helen and his own political ambitions that convinced him that pretending the affair didn't happen would be enough.

With such a promising future in British government ahead of him, one of the only things that could derail Wallace's career prospects would be a personal scandal like a divorce. Something like this, which would certainly draw the attention of tabloids and political commentators, may even have been enough for Wallace to be passed over for the position. It seems that it was a combination of Wallace's love for Helen and his own political ambitions that convinced him that pretending the affair didn't happen would be enough. Whether this will continue to be the case in the future Black Doves remains to be seen.
