Christina and Katie talk in gibberish during two critical moments in His three daughtersWhich initially comes as a random surprise in the context of the film. The first time they talk to each other in an imaginary language is when they discuss, when they invite Rachel to leave her room and join them for dinner. Without a field, they each replace a sentence in an unfamiliar languageAnd yet, strangely enough, seem to understand each other completely. They also do this when the doctor comes in with Vincent’s DNR form.

Jacobs explained the meaning of the language, like pig Latin. “It was something I’d seen with siblings before but not something I ever had. I spelled it out phonetically and I remember getting a call from both Lizzie and Corey saying, ‘So how did it actually say that?’ I just wrote. I didn’t know how they said it… I let them know, I just wrote it, and I hope you figure it out, and they did, and when they showed up, they got it Both could do very quickly.”

Taking in gibberish is an inside joke between Christina and Katie

Jacobs used the gibberish to authenticate Christina and Katie’s longevity as sisters.

In short, the gibberish between Katie and Christina isn’t supposed to make sense to the audience, or even to the characters. It is unlikely that they actually made their own language as kids using nonsensical phonetic sounds. Rather, the language is included in the film with the implication that it is likely Something they have done their entire lives as sisters and something they find comfort and enjoyment in Like very little inside joke. Jacobs used Gibberish language to authenticate Christina and Katie’s long life as sisters, in contrast to their more distant relationship with Rachel, who never speaks the language in His three daughters.
