Why American Horror Story Season 10’s Pale People Aren’t the Same as Season 5’s Vampires

There were many different types of monsters American horror storyis a series of twelve seasons, some of which have similar qualities and characteristics to each other. The show’s fifth season, Hotelfeatures many ghosts and demons and marks the first time vampires have appeared in the AHS universe. These vampires are inspired by famous literature and pop culture, as well as characters like Dracula or Nosferatu. They sleep during the day, infect others by biting them, and drink human blood to survive.

The first half of American horror story 10th season, subtitled Red Tide, introduces new creatures called Pale People. Despite Ryan Murphy’s “no vampire” rule for American horror storySeason 10’s Pale People are a lot like the vampires from Hotel. Although there has never been any kind of confirmation from Murphy that these creatures are related to those from season 5, the shared characteristics are evident. The Pale People still drink human blood to survive – but their transformation is completely different and more horrible.

Pale People from season 10 of American Horror Story have many differences from the vampires from season 5

The Pale People & Vampires are two different types of vampire-like creatures

The main difference between the two types of creatures in AHS is that Pale People can go out during the day. In HotelSunlight is not deadly to vampires, but it diminishes their supernatural abilities. Because of this, vampires hunt at night and sleep during the day. Lady Gaga’s Countess even has little cages made for the vampire children so they can all sleep during the day. While, the Pale People in Red Tide does not appear to have an internal shelter in any way. They just hunt and roam Provincetown day and night.

The Hotel’s vampires are affected by being bitten by another vampire, but the Pale People have to take a black pill.

Another important difference between the two is appearance. The vampires in Hotel look young forever, while the Pale People (also known as Flesh Phantoms) begin to lose their hair and grow sharper teeth, with their skin turning completely palein keeping with a more stereotypical vampire aesthetic. Furthermore, Hotel’and Vampires are affected by being bitten by another vampire, but the Pale People have to take a black pill. Ultimately, the two groups of creatures are very different from each other, allowing AHS to show two different types of vampires.

Pale people share similar characteristics to American Horror Story vampires

Pale people are not the same as hotel vampires

Lady Gaga as the Countess in American Horror Story: Hotel.

Despite their clear differences, there are some common traits between these groups. Both feed on blood to survive, causing suffering and death wherever they go. Both types of monsters originally started out as normal humans who were transformed due to desperate measures. The Pale People took the black pill to become talented and do something with their lives, while the vampires in Hotel were usually bitten as a way to save themselves from death. For example, the Countess bites Donovan (Matt Bomer) to save his life when he is dying of a drug overdose.

However, despite there being clearly two types of vampires in American horror storyIt’s also clear that they are not the same, creating an interesting debate about how they are so different and yet so similar. Perhaps when the Chemist (Angelica Ross) was making the black pill, she added a few drops of vampire blood to the creation – or it was just a coincidence. Either way, both types of creatures gave American horror story the chance to play with vampire lore again and again.
