Who killed Jimmy Powell in Dexter: Original Sin?

Notice! This article contains SPOILERS for Dexter: Original Sin episode 4.Jimmy Powell was found murdered in Dexter: Original Sinbut the show only hinted at who the killer might be. Jimmy Powell, Judge Powell's son, has been a major concern for Miami Metro and most of the roster. Dexter: Original Sin. Ever since he was kidnapped, the entire police department has been on edge and all of Harry Morgan's (Christian Slater) colleagues were focused on finding him. Unfortunately, they found the boy in Original sin episode 4, but not in the way they expected.

When Miami Metro finally found Jimmy, he had already been murdered and was hanging from an overpass. His body also didn't give the police much to work with. Tanya (Sarah Michelle Gellar) was only able to determine that he had been killed elsewhere and taken to the overpass, that he received pre-packaged lunches, and that the killer cauterized his finger with a lighter. It seems that the Miami subway is a long way from finding the killer, but Original sin gave the public some clues about who could have committed the crime.

Is Hector Estrada behind Jimmy Powell's death in Dexter: Original Sin?

If Hector Estrada killed Jimmy, Harry Morgan would have a chance at revenge

Detectives think the cartel may have killed Jimmy Powell, which could point to a long story Dexter Villain: Heitor Estrada. Estrada was the drug lord that Harry and Bobby Watt (Reno Wilson) investigated with the help of Laura Moser (Brittany Allen) in the 1970s. While he was serving a life sentence in the original Dexterit is unclear exactly when he went to prison or what crime he was arrested for. It is possible that Hector Estrada was actually arrested for the murder of Jimmy Powell, and he may have killed the boy as retribution for Judge Powell's attacks on the cartel..

In addition to Captain Spencer's (Patrick Dempsey) theories, Original sin already hinted that Estrada could be involved in Jimmy's death. It's probably not a coincidence that Jimmy's kidnapping and subsequent murder occurred at the same time that Harry was remembering Laura's death at Estrada's hands. It would make a lot of thematic sense for Original sin to give Harry another chance to arrest Estrada and find justice for Laura's murder. Even though this would open up opportunities to delve deeper into Harry's relationship with Laura, Estrada may not be the killer either.

Dexter: Original Sin hints at a dark twist for Jimmy Powell's killer

Instead of the cartel, Jimmy Powell's killer could be a law enforcement agent or a new serial killer

While the cartel is the prime suspect in the Miami Metro investigation, detectives also found some evidence to suggest it wasn't them. As Harry and Spencer pointed out, it wouldn't have made sense for the cartel to kidnap Jimmy without sending demands or ransom, and they also wouldn't have exposed his body like that.. Additionally, Harry mentioned that the Narcotics division was confused because there wasn't much drug activity in Miami at the time. It seems Original sin is setting up an even darker and more surprising twist.

If the cartel is too easy an answer to being Jimmy's real killer, there are only a few other options it could be. It's possible the killer is someone inside the department, someone with intimate knowledge of law enforcement officials like Judge Powell and their families, as well as how to confuse a police investigation.. It is also possible that Original sin is preparing to introduce a new entry into Dexterlist of serial killers, which wasn't even mentioned before. Any of these possibilities would create a very surprising and exciting story to read. Dexter: Original Sin follow.
