Warning: This article contains plot spoilers for WickedThe upcoming film adaptation of the popular musical Evil boasts a star-studded cast, including Peter Dinklage as Dr. Dillamond. Evil follows its main characters, Elphaba and Galinda, as they take classes at Shiz University. As the film progresses, Elphaba and Galinda struggle to build and maintain a friendship, in part due to their different values ​​and desires. For Elphaba in particular, much of her goal in meeting the Wizard throughout the film is related to her connection with her teacher, Dr. Dillamond, played by Peter Dinklage.
Active since 1995, Dinklage made his film debut The Station Agent in 2003. Since then, Dinklage has starred in several films and television shows, including Avengers: Infinity War, I care a lot, and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Birds and Snakes. However, Peter Dinklage is best known for his portrayal of Tyrion Lannister in Games of Thrones, for which he received several nominations and awards. Peter Dinklage’s Dillamond is Elphaba’s history teacher and a mentor of sorts to her during her time at Shiz University. Dr. Dillamond is the only animal at the collegebut he tells Elphaba about a time when there were more animals at Shiz University. The two become close, and Elphaba’s opinions of Oz are quickly shaped by what she learns from Dr. Dillamond.
While all the other students in history class are uninterested in learning, Elphaba listens intently to what Dr. Dillamond has to say about the University of Shiz and Oz. In addition to portraying the friendship between Elphaba and Galinda, many of the events in Evil occurs because Dr. Dillamond tells her about a conspiracy against the animals of Oz. Elphaba sees injustice against someone she cares about, which leads her to take action beyond Shiz University.

At a crucial moment, Dr. Dillamond explains to Elphaba that there is a conspiracy in Oz to stop all animals from talking. Elphaba discovers that the wizard is not who she thought he was
Although Elphaba eventually meets the Wizard, he is not the good leader or protector of Oz that she thought he would be. Instead of, she realizes that the Wizard cannot be trusted to help free the animals, since he is behind the conspiracy against them. While trying to win over the Wizard, Elphaba inadvertently forces her monkeys to grow wings. However, after learning of the wizard’s true intentions, she frees the wizard’s flying monkeys to take care of them herself.
Even so, Peter Dinklage’s character’s plot does not have a happy ending. While Elphaba discovers the truth about the Wizard, Dr. Dillamond continues to fight for animal rights in Evil. Unfortunately, Dillamond is eventually captured and imprisoned and, as a result, loses his ability to speak.. Elphaba learns of her fate, which only strengthens her resolve to do the right thing. However, she must flee to avoid being caught by the Wizard, in the hope that Galinda will take up her cause for good.
Dinklage’s role in Evil is essential in helping the audience understand Elphaba’s character and motivations. As a goat and an animal facing discrimination from other inhabitants of Oz, Dr. Dillamond is able to convey the severity of the situation to Elphaba, leading her to make a decision about who she wants to be in the future. EvilDillamond also serves as a way for Peter Dinklage to continue to showcase his acting and singing talents through a unique role.
