Outer Banks Season four introduces many new legends, mysteries, and historical and fictional figures, including Francis Jeanrette. The Netflix teen action-adventure series centers on a group of Pogs living on the Outer Banks of North Carolina – John B, Sarah, Pope, Ciara, JJ and Cleo. Every season Outer Banks, The pogs are looking for treasure whether they do so by choice or not, and in season four they do so because they spent all the money they made from the Eldorado gold found in season three. Desperate, the group searches for Wes Jenrette.
Wes is the man who approaches the Pogues about Blackbeard, aka Edward Teach, during Outer Banks season 3 finale. Although they claim to be out of the treasure hunting business, their empty bank account suggests otherwise. So the Pogues accept Wes’s offer to find the amulet of Blackbeard’s wife, Elizabeth, in exchange for $50,000. How Wes explains that his ancestor, Francis Jenrette, killed Blackbeard and his wife in 1718. Since then, Elizabeth has been haunted by several generations of the Jeanrette family, all of whom survived brutal deaths, including Wes’s daughter, Larissa. So, Wes believes that returning the amulet will satisfy Elizabeth and end the curse.
Frances Jenrette from Outer Banks is a fictional version of Blackbeard’s real-life killer, Robert Maynard.
Robert Maynard was a Royal Navy officer
Although Outer Banks Season 4 claims to tell the story of Blackbeard, but many of its details are incorrect, including who killed the infamous pirate. Of course, the writers took creative liberties to create their own coherent and intriguing narrative for the episodes, which meant changing the identity of Blackbeard’s killer. It was not Francis Jenrette who killed him, but the execution of the pirate is attributed to Lieutenant Robert Maynard of the British Royal Navy. However, Francis appears to be inspired by Maynard in Outer Banks season 4.

Wes Jenrette reveals himself in Outer Banks In season four, Francis, a British officer, caught, killed and beheaded a pirate, which sounds like a true story, only the killer was given a different name. In real life Virginia Governor Alexander Spotswood ordered Maynard to capture Blackbeard. Maynard and his army found the pirate and his men near Ocracoke Island, North Carolina, where a battle had ensued between two opposing forces. When the smoke cleared, Blackbeard was dead. Maynard reportedly then hung Teach’s head from his mast.

IN Outer Banks In the season four plot, Wes claims that his ancestor, Francis Jenrette, killed Blackbeard’s wife, Elizabeth Teach, after killing the pirate. Before her death, Elizabeth begged Francis to take her amulet, her husband’s gift and her most valuable possessions from his ship. Francis refused and killed her. Consequently, Elizabeth placed a curse on the Jeanrette family and haunted them for over 300 years. However, this never happened in real life. In fact, Elizabeth Teach wasn’t even a real person, since Blackbeard’s last known wife before his death was Mary Ormond.

Apparently, Robert Maynard never killed Blackbeard’s wife. this means that the curse was fabricated for season 4 of the exciting Netflix series. Outer Banks. Although the curse is not real, there are stories about the ghost of Blackbeard. Per North Carolina GhostsLegends say that Maynard’s men threw the pirate overboard after beheading him, and his headless body floated around the ship three times before sinking into the ocean. This place became known as Teach’s Hole, where many claim the ghost of Blackbeard haunts the waters. People have reported seeing light moving beneath the surface and hearing its voice on stormy nights.

Robert Maynard lived many years after the murder of Blackbeard in November 1718. died in January 1751 at the age of 66. However, he will always be best known as the man who executed the notorious pirate, as Maynard disappeared from history after Blackbeard’s death. Maynard continued to serve in the British Royal Navy and rose through the ranks, ending his service with the rank of captain. Other than this, not much is known about Maynard’s life, which is probably why the fourth season of the series Outer Banks created a fictional character who became Blackbeard’s killer.
