Marvel Studios Agatha all along is the MCU’s Next show, and there are some interesting theories about what the villain of the show could be. With the return of Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) as she seeks to reclaim her power, the witch will join forces with a brand new alliance to reclaim what was lost. However, it has not yet been revealed who (or what) will serve as the primary antagonist.
At the end of 2021 WandaVisionWanda Maximoff embraces her role as the Scarlet Witch, a powerful wielder of chaos magic. She also took Agatha’s magic before locking Harkness in a spell that made her believe she was just another stupid neighbor living in the town of Westview. however, Agatha all along Will see the spell broken in the wake of Wanda’s death, giving Agatha the chance to try and get her magic back. With that in mind, here are six possible theories about who could serve as Agatha all along Villain.

“teen”
(Billy Kaplan/Demiurge?)
In the trailers for Agatha all alongIt has been revealed that Joe Locke is playing a character who has been referred to only as “Tin”.. The character is a teenager whose real name is kept a secret, presumably until it is revealed in the show itself. The mystery surrounding Tin also continues to build, as he is admittedly obsessed with Agatha Harkness and her story. He is also the one who will help free you from Wanda’s spell. It is unclear what “Tin’s” true motives are in needing her to help him travel down the witches’ road.

That said, the prevailing theory was that Joe Locke’s “teen” was none other than Billy Kaplan, the reincarnated son of Wanda Maximoff. The biggest clue was a particular shot seen in the trailers where Joe Locke’s character is wearing red and a blue headband, evoking the Halloween costume the younger Billy Maximoff wore in WandaVisionWhich itself was a nod to Billy Caplan’s Wiccan costume in the comics. With that in mind, “teen” being Billy Kaplan could speak to his motives for going down the witches’ road.
In the trailers, it is said that those who venture down the witches’ road and get to the end, get what they want most. For Agatha, this would be the restoration of her magical abilities. But Billy, if that’s what “teen” really is, might want to bring his mother back. This would naturally put him at odds with Agatha. At the same time, perhaps Billy is seeking greater power of his own. As the son of the Scarlet Witch, Marvel Comics’ Wiccan is the prophesied being known as the Demiurge, a being who wields the power of creation itself.

Rio Vidal
The mysterious green witch
While Agatha and “Tin” will put together a brand new coven of witches to join them on the Witches’ Road, the most mysterious by far is Aubrey Plaza’s Rio Vidal. Ryo Also known as the Green Witch, Ryo is seen in the trailers in Agatha’s mind when she envisions herself as a detective investigating Wanda’s death. Later, Ryo is featured emerging from the earth, suggesting her magic may come from the earth itself. Likewise, it is also suggested that Agatha all along Ryo resembles Gaea, an elder god in the Marvel Universe who is unlike Mother Nature.

Ryo secretly being Gaea could have huge implications for the MCU and its more supernatural aspects. Not only would it be the introduction of a new magical god in the MCU, but the introduction of Gaea could set up the debut of her brother in the MCU: Chthon. Another elder god, Chthon is the creator of Chaos magic and the Darkhold, effectively being the source of Wanda Maximoff’s powers.
With that in mind, Rio Vidal could be the start of something huge in the MCU. This is especially true considering the potential for the Scarlet Witch’s possible resurrection after she sacrifices herself in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. After destroying Mount Wundagore and every copy of the Darkhold, perhaps the time has finally come for Gaea and Chthon to emerge in Agatha all along.

Mephisto
Will the Demon Lord finally get his MCU debut?
Mephisto has been rumored for the MCU since 2021 WandaVision. Rumors and theories were running rampant, many of which spilled over into the first season of Loki too. Mephisto was spotted behind every character in WandaVisionIncluding Agatha’s fake husband Pietro aka Ralph Bohner, Dottie, Director Hayward, a cicada, and even Agatha’s pet rabbit Señor Scratchy. Although Mephisto has been rumored to be coming to the MCU and has even been cast with Sacha Baron Cohen in the role, MCU fans have yet to actually see the Marvel Universe’s Demon Lord on screen.
keep this in mind, Perhaps the time has come for Mephisto to finally make his MCU debut in Agatha all along. After all, trailers for the upcoming MCU show have what looks like demons and all sorts of supernatural evils plaguing the Witches’ Road. Perhaps Mephisto will be the one to bestow the rewards at the end of the road. That being said, providing what someone wants most is important for the Demon Lord to get a secret catch. He loves his Faustian bargains.
3
Chthon
The Elder God of Chaos Magic
Whether Rio Vidal is revealed to be Gaea or not, Chthon could still emerge as a major threat in Agatha all along. In the comics, Chthon has big plans for Wanda to become his dark vessel on Earth. However, his plans backfired massively when the Scarlet Witch proved to be too powerful and was able to keep him contained within her own spirit. Now that Wanda is gone in the MCU, the time may be ripe for Chthon to look for a new ship.
If “Tin” is indeed the son of the Scarlet Witch, perhaps he will be seen as a worthy vessel for Chthon to possess in Agatha all along. Likewise, there may be a very dark possibility of resurrecting Wanda and turning her into his puppet. anyway, Chthon’s emergence would certainly raise the stakes and power levels of the MCU’s supernatural stories to the next level.
2
Resurrected Scarlet Witch
Wanda back from the dead?
Any version of a resurrected Scarlet Witch could easily become a major threat in Agatha all along. It’s not hard to imagine a dark and corrupt version of Wanda, twisting what was most desired by Agatha and Teen/Billy. A resurrection would also provide MCU fans with the Scarlet Witch return they’ve been missing ever since Multiverse of Madness and Wanda’s death (which was very controversial).
One would hope that Wanda could be brought back as the hero she once was before she was corrupted by the Darkhold. However, it is likely that a resurrection could only be possible with large amounts of dark chaos magic. If so, it would more than likely come with some dark effects (at least in the beginning of Wanda potentially being brought to life in the MCU).
In any case, there is at least a precedent for a resurrection at the end of the witches road. In the comics, Agatha herself is brought back to life with her spirit revived in a new body after Wanda travels down the road on the page. As such, perhaps Agatha all along Intending to flip the script with Agatha going down the road and Wanda being brought back.

Agatha’s original coven
Evanora Harkness and the Salemites
Another intriguing idea is that Agatha’s new coven could end up facing her old one Agatha all along. As seen in a key flashback featured in WandaVisionAgatha was put on trial by her own mother, Evanora Harkness, and their coven known as the Salemites. Using their magical energy in an attempt to execute Agatha for breaking the rules of their coven and stealing dark knowledge beyond her age and station, the coven’s punishment backfires in the face of Agatha’s new dark powers. She also proved to be too strong and killed her own mother as well.
While all the Salemites were killed by Agatha, they could still live in the realm of the Witches’ Road. As seen in the comics version of the mystical plane of existence, time is confined to being vague and malleable, which explains why Wanda Maximoff is able to meet and interact with the spirit of her long-dead mother on the page. As such, perhaps the Salemites will finally get their reckoning with Agatha Harkness once she and her new allies begin their journey down the witches’ path of the MCU.
Agatha All Along is set to premiere September 18 on Disney+
