When Lucy accidentally travels back in time to two days before Summer’s murder in 2003, she finally discovers the truth about who her sister was, which helps her discover who really wrote the letter. The letter simply states: “Summer. I’m free now, but you never will be. You will regret this. – E.” Originally, Lucy thought “E” stood for Summer’s ex-boyfriend, Ethan, who her parents believed to be the Sweetly Slasher’s true identity. Although Emmy was also killed in the original timeline, Time cut does not reveal the butterfly effect of his survival in the alternate timeline of 2024.
