The new mobile trading card juggernaut, Pokemon TCG Pocket, has been raking in money between all its downloads. However, deciding which Genetic Apex pack to open first can be challenging for new players. It could be if they are active card game players trying out this game or totally new to Pokémon TCG. This is because, although the Pikachu, Charizard and Mewtwo packs are part of the same set, each one has many exclusives.
For any trainer trying to put together one of the best Pokémon TCG Pocket decks, you must first know which booster to prioritize. After all, the game will only provide two free boosters every two hours. If you’re strapped for cash and want to avoid spending money on microtransactions, there’s a package you need to focus on first when you’re on a budget.
Which package to open first
Charizard to start
The Genetic Apex booster pack, Pokémon TCG Pocket players, must open it first is the Charizard pack because this set contains perfect cards for beginners, and you also get the best starter decks. The pack you choose to open first changes the starting deck you receive, and in the case of Charizard, you receive a Grass-themed Pinsir deck. However, the jewel of this deck is the former Exeggutor card, which you receive as a bonus.
Along with 160HP, its attack, Tropical Swing, can deal up to 80 damage and only requires one Grass Energy. This makes this particular strain of Exeggcute evolution incredibly deadly and should be more than enough to get you through early PvE matches and even some PvP. The Charizard set in Genetic Apex features other strong Pokémon that are easy to build strong decks, such as Starmie ex, Charizard ex, and the card Erika Supporter, which can heal 50 damage.
Booster Pack Tier List
Mewtwo is second best
Although Charizard is the best pack to open first Pokémon TCG Pocket beginners, Mewtwo is the next ideal choice for competitive PvP players. Once you learn how to fight in the game, you’ll soon be looking forward to more advanced lineups using cards like Mewtwo ex, Marowak ex, Articuno ex, and the Giovanni Supporter card, which can power up your active Pokémon.

The Pikachu set has some impressive artistic designs behind its base cards and Secret Rares, but its appeal is more aesthetic than competitive. If you want to try out a Pikachu deck, try the one available among Pokémon TCG PocketRental decks. If you’re trying to build an Electric-type deck or are a completionist, go for it, but Charizard and Mewtwo are still the best packs to open first if you want a head start in the current meta.
