This article covers a developing story. Keep checking back with us as we will add more information as it becomes available.
The Wheel of Time the third season cast a major villain who threatens Moiraine and the Aes Sedai, suggesting what to expect in the next episodes. The Wheel of Time season 2 ended by teasing new threats in upcoming episodes, including all of the now-awake Forsaken, apparently led by Moghedien (Laia Costa).
Now, Variety confirmed that Shohreh Aghdashloo has been cast as Avriny a'Roihan's Elaida in The Wheel of Time season 3. This new villain is an Aes Sedai of the Red Ajah, who will return to the White Tower after some time away, confronting Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) and Siuan (Sophie Okonedo) because of a past the trio shares. She is expected to be a major threat in the coming episodes, motivated by her perceived “the greater good”, and actions that she considers necessary for her worldview. Check out the full description of Elaida’s character below:
[Elaida is] a ruthlessly powerful Aes Sedai of the Red Ajah, as proficient in politics as she is in channeling. She has a deep history with Moiraine (Pike) and Siuan (Sophie Okonedo), and a score to settle with both of them when she returns to the White Tower. Elaida is someone who believes in ends over means and is willing to do anything to achieve what she imagines to be the greater good.
More to come…
