Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Season 3, Episode 6 onwards.
Of Season 3, Episode 6, ‘Scar Tissue’ brings a shocking twist to Fatima’s (Pegah Ghafoori) pregnancy. Fatima first shared with Ellis (Corteon Moore) in Season 2 that she was pregnantdespite being unable to conceive in the outside world. What they wanted to believe was a miracle quickly took a sinister turn, especially in Of season 3, episode 2, when Fatima began willingly craving and eating rotten crops while feeling unable to swallow any other food.
Your desires turn into even more unnatural territory in Of season 3, episode 4, how Fátima begins consuming blood from Nicky’s corpse (Tamara Fifield). Fátima doesn’t know what’s wrong with her and is afraid of the truth. The answer to this mystery begins to become clearer with the ambulance that brings Tabitha Matthews (Catalina Sandino Moreno) back to Vila, with the ambulance carrying an ultrasound that can show Fátima what is happening with her pregnancy.
An ultrasound reveals that Fátima is not actually pregnant since season three
The problem isn’t what she thought it was
When Fátima goes to the medical clinic, the ultrasound shows that there is no baby growing inside her. Fátima insists that Kristi (Chloe Van Landschoot) and Marielle (Kaelen Ohm) look again, but a second time doesn’t change the ultrasound results. Fatima assumed that her desire for rotten crops and human blood was due to a problem with her pregnancy.but if she is not pregnant, the origin of her desires remains a mystery.
It is possible that Fátima is pregnant, not with a human, but with one of the Ofthey are cruel monsters or something even worse growing inside her that ultrasound cannot detect. The city torments each individual in a personal way that hurts them the most. Impregnating an infertile woman, but literally with a monster child, is on the same level as the twisted way in which the city individually tortures its residents. At the very least, the ultrasound confirms that Fátima is not pregnant with a human baby.
Is Fátima infected by the original monsters?
It would have to be different from Boyd’s infection in season 2
Another possibility is that the monsters infected Fátima, this infection being the reason why she had her desires. The infection could be the reason she feels unwell and can only eat rotten crops and blood. Fátima may be slowly turning into one of the monsters or even the ghost lady seen by Elgin (Nathan D. Simmons). The main problem with this possibility is that there is no clear time when she would have become infected, similar to Boyd Stevens’ (Harold Perrineau) blood becoming infected at the beginning of Season 2.
If Fatima or OfIf the other characters can’t figure out if she’s infected, pregnant with a monster, or if something else is happening to her, she might not survive season three. The season has already begun with the devastating loss of Tian-Chen Liu (Elizabeth Moy). Fátima’s potentially dark end is gradually being built more than Tian-Chen’s sudden and shocking death, but losing Fatima would still be incredibly devastating, especially for Ellis. Time is running out Of 3rd season to discover the truth and save Fátima.
