Katherine Wyler Could Still Become Vice President
She finally decides she wants the job by the end of season 2
Now that Penn will be President of the United States at the beginning of the The Diplomat In season three, she could have aimed to end Kate’s career and silence her like she and Roylin did with Merritt Grove. He would be it would certainly be dangerous for Kate to continue exposing the truth about HMS Courageousespecially since President Rayburn’s death will be a much bigger story than the geopolitical information that was leaked. Kate would end up betraying her own country to reveal the truth about the HMS Courageous, which would also ruin the strong alliance between the US and the UK.
Kate will likely work closely with President Penn on The Diplomat 3rd season as vice president. She will have to learn to live with the harsh reality of her new role, which was a rude awakening for her in season two, and understand the difficult decision Penn had to make, a decision Kate confirmed she would have made herself. Kate’s relationship with Dennison is likely to be strained, especially if the truth comes out to him or Prime Minister Trowbridge, which would be disastrous. The Diplomat creator Debora Cahn said Netflix Tudum“The third season turns the chessboard around. In season 3, Kate lives the specific nightmare of getting what she wants.” This implies that Kate ends up getting vice president in season 3.
Nicol Trowbridge and the UK government investigation
He will remain Prime Minister to begin Season 3
After Trowbridge discovers that Roylin was behind the attack on HMS Courageous (he is unaware that she was covering for Grace Penn), he becomes so angry that he nearly strangles her to death. Trowbridge contemplates his wife Lydia’s suggestion that he should resign as Prime Minister and reveal the truth behind the HMS Courageous attack and Lenkov’s murder. Dennison also recommends the same thing. Despite this, Trowbridge ignores their recommendations and remains Prime Minister, meaning he will continue to hold the position at the start of Season 3. find out who else was involved in the Roylin scheme within the UK government but he’s dragging his feet on this, afraid of the answers he’ll get.
Eidra and Stuart’s relationship in Diplomat
Stuart tells Eidra they should be together in season 2
Eidra and Stuart are not together during season 2 of The Diplomat and Eidra works hard to keep things purely professional between them, even with Stuart’s poor health after the car explosion. Although Kate has mostly softened towards Hal after the explosion despite their constant disagreements, their marriage is still intact and Kate’s affair with Dennison is off the table at the end of Season 2. As for Stuart and Eidra, Stuart’s persistence finally begins to break Eidra’s impenetrable shield when he tells her he thinks they should be together. The door is certainly open for Stuart and Eidra to become more official in The Diplomat season 3.
What’s happening to the Russians?
Russians want more details about Lenkov’s death
All over The Diplomatthe Russians have been largely out of the picture, except for mercenary leader Roman Lenkov. MI6 agent Tom mentions the Russians in his final scene in Season 2, which possibly sets the stage for a greater Russian presence in The Diplomat season 3. With Dennison present, Trowbridge planned to inform Tom about the UK government’s investigation and would have to explain that it was not the Russians behind the attack on HMS Courageous, but one of them, Margaret Roylin. Trowbridge is unable to tell Tom the truth until the end of The Diplomat 2nd season.
Tom informs Trowbridge that the Russian Ministry of Defense is requesting the SAS report on Lenkov’s “accidental” deathwhich the UK denied. As Trowbridge pointed the finger at the Russian mercenary leader on television, the Kremlin may have its own response to the bad press and lack of transparency surrounding Lenkov’s death. Now that Trowbridge knows the truth, he will be forced to choose whether he can bury everything, which Penn suggested he do, or escalate the matter to resolve any potential friction with Russia and avoid international conflict in The Diplomat season 3.
