There was a “It will be tastefully done” note in the Terrifier 3 script for Vicky’s glass scene

The Terrifier franchise isn’t exactly known for its good taste

Victoria Heyes (Samantha Scaffidi) is looking at someone in Terrifier 3.

In November 2024, there was a Terrifying 3 panel at Monster-Mania Con, with Scaffidi, which Screen Rant was able to attend. At the panel, Scaffidi revealed that in the Terrifying 3 script, next to the broken glass scene, the director, Damien Leone, wrote “It will be done tastefully. Considering what the scene is,”tasteful” doesn’t seem like the most appropriate adjective, although it could certainly be argued that the scene could have gone further in regards to the gross-out factor.

She kind of disassociates herself as she replays the scenes, distancing herself as a person from the horrible things that are happening in the film.

Scaffidi also spoke about his own feelings regarding that moment and the franchise as a whole, saying that the broken glass scene is one of your favorites in the series so farobserving that she is “always down“for whatever Leone comes up with. She mentioned that the Terrifying The intense blood and violence of the series doesn’t affect her much, as she sort of disassociates herself as she replays the scenes, distancing herself as a person from the horrible things that are happening in the film.

How Samantha Scaffidi’s Vicky became so important in the Terrifier franchise

She became one of the franchise’s biggest assets

Vicky started out as the main character in the first Terrifying film, eventually incorporating the classic last girl, last survivor horror trope at the end of the film. However, at the time of Terrifying 3, Vicky evolved into something entirely different, becoming a full-fledged antagonist alongside Art the Clown. It seems that her popularity, combined with the character’s depth and complexity, caused the franchise to let Vicky adopt a more complex role.

Horror sequels tend to rely on bringing back their last few girls to act as supporting characters or reprising their role as protagonist, but by subverting expectations in this way, Terrifying 3 was able to transform Vicky into a completely unique character. It was an unorthodox decision, to be sure, but that notion alone makes it a fitting decision considering how the franchise itself has always been willing to break norms.
