Notice! This article contains spoilers for episodes 8 and 9 of Agatha All Along.
Agatha all the time Episodes 8 and 9 provided an epic and heartfelt climax to the MCU show, answering many questions and raising others for the future of the franchise. After Agatha all the time After the end of episode 7, only three members of the original coven who set out to walk the Witches’ Road remained: Agatha, Jen, and Billy. Not only that, but the MCU’s Lady Death has been confirmed to be Rio Vidal, adding a notable wildcard to the events of Agatha all the timeThe end of two episodes.
With Agatha all the timeWith the cast smaller than ever, the final three characters embarked on The Witches’ Road’s final trial as Death hovered above them. At the time of Agatha all the time By the end of episode 9, many mysteries were answered, from the true nature of the MCU’s Witch Road to the fates of Billy, Agatha, Jen, and Rio. Each of these elements was addressed, at the same time. Agatha all the time episode 9 laid intriguing groundwork for the continuation of the plot in the future of the MCU.
How Billy Maximoff Created Witches’ Highway
In Agatha all the time episode 6, the titular witch claims to Billy that she knew he was Wanda’s son due to both magic users possessing the same sign. In Agatha all the time episode 9, this throwaway comment returned to explain perhaps the biggest reveal of the entire show: Billy created The Witches’ Road. Just as Wanda used her magical power to make the Hex and envelop Westview in her idyllic world, Billy used his own skills to physically create The Witches’ Road using elements scattered around his childhood bedroom.
Given that Wanda possessed Chaos Magic, which allowed her to reshape reality at will, it stands to reason that her son would also possess these abilities. This explains how Billy was able to create The Witches’ Road. Everything Billy needed to find Tommy was already inside him, but he needed a physical manifestation of it to see it through. Thus, The Witches’ Road was born from his Chaos Magic powers, formulating a physical series of trials and tribulations for himself and the rest of the world. Agatha all the timewitches to overcome.
What is the way of witches?
Naturally, this raises the question of what exactly The Witches’ Road is. Many will wonder if this is an alternate dimension that Billy created or if it simply happened within the minds of the clan. That being said, Agatha all the time episode 9 notes that all of the show’s events took place, meaning The Witches’ Road was based in a physical location, much like Wanda’s Hex was with Westview. As such, the most likely explanation for The Witches’ Road is that it was a large piece of land beneath Westview that was subconsciously shaped to resemble what Billy wanted to find for Tommy.
This reality is supported by two different scenes in Agatha all the time. For one, Lilia and Jen see the abandoned Westview subway station when they are under the road in Agatha all the time episode 7. Secondly, after regaining her powers, Jen is shown physically ripping herself off the ground on the outskirts of Westview. Therefore, it can be assumed that Billy excavated The Witches’ Road beneath Westview unconsciously, meaning it was a physical location made possible by his power over Chaos Magic.
Does witches road still exist?
With the knowledge that The Witches’ Road physically existed, another question arises Agatha all the time the end of episode 9 is whether it still exists. However, the end of the episode confirmed that this no longer happens. Billy uses his powers to destroy Witch Road, closing the entrance and turning it into a tomb for Lilia, Sharon Davis, and Alice.
How Agatha dies
Another of the biggest revelations in Agatha all the time the end of episode 8 was that Agatha died. After initially promising to deliver Billy to Rio, who thought his reincarnation went against Death’s natural order, Agatha chose to sacrifice herself. At first, Agatha was willing to let Billy go with Rio until the former reminded her of Marvel’s Nicholas Scratch, his son. Agatha then turned and walked towards Rio, kissing her. Physically enacting the old “Kiss of Death” adage, Rio got what he wanted in the end, leaving Billy alive.
How Agatha Returns as a Ghost
However, this death did not mean the end of Agatha in the MCU. Agatha all the time episode 9 revealed that Agatha returned as a ghost, just as she did at one point in Marvel Comics. The show doesn’t explain exactly how this happens, but the source material frequently states that ghosts are made up of beings who still have work to do on Earth. In Agatha all the timecase, the titular witch wanted to retrieve the locket containing Nicholas Scratch’s hair, leading her to Billy as a ghost.
Agatha All Along Sets Up Tommy Maximoff’s MCU Return (and Recast)
In Agatha all the time episode 8, the final judgment of The Witches’ Road takes place. During this trial, Agatha promises to help Billy find Tommy. After receiving a tip from Rio at the beginning of the episode, Agatha realizes that Tommy was not reincarnated alongside Billy and that the former’s soul is trapped inside the latter. Agatha guides Billy through the steps necessary to help Tommy reincarnate as his brother did. This sequence provides plenty of insight into Tommy’s origins and future in the MCU, a future that will inevitably lead to a recasting of the character after WandaVisionit’s ending like Agatha all the time provided Billy.
Billy sees a boy being tricked by a group of teenagers. The teenagers drown the boy, who Billy claims grew up in a place without love and no one to care for him. As Billy asks if he is actively killing this boy so that Tommy can be reborn, he disappears from The Witches’ Road, meaning that Billy got his wish and Tommy was reborn as this boy after drowning in the pool. It is not yet known where this boy, now Tommy, appears again in the MCU, but what happens later with Billy and Agatha suggests so.
When will Billy Maximoff and Agatha Harkness return?
After Billy closes The Witches’ Road and Agatha retrieves her locket as a ghost, the two are unsure what will happen next. Billy states that he could use some help learning about her powers before Agatha states that she tends to kill those in her clan. Billy tearfully admits that he is the same after his upbringing on the Witch Road led to the deaths of Sharon, Alice and Lilia. Billy then creates an exit from the basement, causing Agatha to say “Let’s go find Tommy.”
This suggests that Billy and Agatha will return in the MCU’s future, as will Tommy Maximoff in his new body. No confirmed MCU film or TV show could realistically include this storyline, but some theorized projects could. One of them is the rumored Young Avengers project, given that Tommy and Billy are prominent members of the Marvel Comics team. It could be that Young Avengers will begin with Billy and Agatha rescuing Tommy, although no one knows when that project will be filmed and released.
Why Scarlet Witch isn’t on Agatha all the time
For Wanda Maximoff fans, a big question arising Agatha all the time the end of episode 9 is the reason she wasn’t on the show. Many expected that The Witches’ Road and the close ties between Agatha, Billy and Wanda would result in the latter’s return to the MCU in some form in Agatha all the time. Ultimately, Billy’s focus was on Tommy. This explains why Wanda didn’t return; Billy doesn’t care about Wanda, instead just wanting to find his brother, meaning Wanda’s return wouldn’t fit into the story’s thematic plot.
What happens to Jennifer Kale after the end of Agatha All Along
As alluded to, Agatha all the time the end of episode 9 includes Jennifer Kale fighting her way out of The Witches’ Road. This happened after she regained her power by removing the bond placed on her by Agatha. Jennifer then flies above Westview, leaving her future in the MCU uncertain. That being said, it’s almost guaranteed that Jen will appear again, given the events of Lilia’s trial. An Easter egg in Agatha all the time episode 7 referred to Jen as the High Priestess. If Agatha and Billy return and need a witch’s help, they now have an ally in the seemingly powerful Jennifer Kale.
Agatha All Along confirms 11 deaths in the MCU
Fittingly for a show that included the personification of Death as the main antagonist, Agatha all the time confirms 11 deaths in the MCU. On the side of good and evil, many characters died in Ágatha all the time. This is something of a change of pace for the MCU, which has long been criticized for reversing deaths rather than keeping them permanent.

Cause of Death |
---|---|
Sharon Davis |
Her hair was not included in Jen’s antidote during the first Witches’ Road trial. |
Alice Wu-Gulliver |
Agatha stole his life force after being hit by his magic. |
Lilia Calderu |

With all seven of the MCU’s Salem Seven villains dying alongside Sharon, Alice, Lilia, and Nicholas Scratch during the events of Agatha all the timethe show had a pretty substantial death count at 11. If Agatha is counted, the death count comes to 12. However, Agatha’s return as a ghost means she is not technically dead, leaving Agatha all the timeis ending as one that teases the titular witch’s continuation in the MCU’s future.
