Ryan and Clara struggled to have an intimate connection. Clara expressed her frustrations with Ryan to her MAFS co-stars, stating that he hadn’t told any of the girls he dated that he loved them, which was a red flag. Despite their concerns, the couple still said yes on Decision Day.
During the reunion special, Ryan and Clara stated that they were living together and planning to buy a house. The duo also planned to throw a big party on New Year’s Eve. However, all this never happened. When the MAFS the season 12 reunion was about to air, Ryan and Clara announced that they would go their separate ways. While many people speculated that a lack of sexual chemistry contributed to the relationship’s demise, that wasn’t the case. Ryan clarified that Clara’s failure to learn more about her culture contributed to the divorce. Here it is what has Ryan been doing since he stepped away from the spotlight.
Ryan and Clara’s Married at First Sight Journey
It was quite interesting
Ryan, the project manager, was eager to see what this new experience would offer. His goal was to make his person Married at first sight so that they would later form a family. Ryan married Clara, a flight attendant, and they got together after Decision Day. Clara did not share similar goals to Ryanleading to divorce soon after MAFS season 12 has ended. In a lengthy Instagram post, Ryan gave an idea of what contributed to their split. Ryan wrote in part:
“You can’t really be open to marrying another race and not want to marry their culture. The Black experience and Black culture are not monolithic, there is no one shoe that fits all.
Ryan is black and Clara is white. The couple made history as the show’s first interracial couple. So her lack of learning more about black culture, as Ryan stated, obviously didn’t sit well with him. These differences were too much for the two to overcome, resulting in their separation. Notably, the couple also fought with intimacy and communication. Therefore, their separation was not surprising.
What does Ryan do for work?
He is a senior consultant
When he joined MAFS Season 12, Ryan worked in payroll services and earned over $500,000 annually. He worked as an advanced repair agent before rising through the ranks and becoming a manager. According to your LinkedIn profile, Ryan is a senior consultant at Workday. He has held this role since July 2023. The first Married at first sight Reality star has a few certifications under his belt, including Lean Sigma green and white belt certification, which may have significantly contributed to his senior consultant position.
Ryan really likes fitness
He likes to work out
Ryan is so passionate about fitness that he often shares his workout videos with his online community. THE ex-MAFS cast member was sharing her fitness journey on her Instagram page since June 2020. He posted some videos and instructions on some of the exercises he did.

However, Ryan also spoke about the challenges black people face because of their skin color while addressing the death of a young black man who died while exercising in his neighborhood. Since that post, Ryan has shared more workout sessions, which have ranged from regular excuses to CrossFit.
Ryan’s Family and Love Life
He values family
When he joined the MAFS Cast in season 12, Ryan intended to start a family and have children. However, in one of the MAFS episodes, the couple discussed how they would raise their future children. The debate was whether they would raise their children in a religious environment. Ryan was adamant that he did not want his children to be raised religiously, but his wife disagreed. However, Clara clarified that she was ready to have her children in a safe environment where they could explore other religions.
Still, Ryan said he didn’t want them exposed to the church. In a confession, the MAFS star went on to say that this wasn’t what he was looking for, which showed how different their family values were. Ryan and Clara had some mutual friends. They had also crossed paths somehow before the MAFS experiment, as they both attended Lil Wayne and Blink-182’s Atlanta shows in 2018.
Despite the coincidences that would have shown that the universe wanted them together, they were still incompatible, mainly because of their different family values. The discussion about whether religion was important or not in raising children was a clear sign that the Married at first sight couple would have faced a difficult road at some point in their married life if they had stayed together. It is still unclear whether Ryan has found his life partner, but the first Married at first sight the competitor spends most of their time working outtaking care of his dog and hanging out with his nephew.
