NOTICE! This article contains SPOILERS for Season 3, Episode 6!After venturing back to the tree, Tabitha and Jade work desperately to figure out the tree’s numbers puzzle from the distant bottle. Of Season 3, but they remain a mystery. OfThe distant trees have been a source of intrigue since season one, when Victor showed Ethan that they could be used for transportation to different places in the city, but there’s no way of knowing where the person who passes through them will be sent. One of these distant trees is also a bottle tree, with several trees in the forest with glass bottles hanging from branches with numbered papers inside.
However the origins and true purpose of bottle trees are still unclear, Of Season 3 placed a greater focus on the potential meaning of the numbers written on the papers inside. The show established that Victor’s mother, Miranda, made two different bottle trees in her hometown of Camden, Maine, but Of he did not confirm whether those in the city already existed before his artistic installation and subsequent arrival. So the secrets about the bottle numbers may have died with Miranda, but Jade is still committed to finding the pattern that reveals their meaning.
What Jade has learned about bottle numbers so far
Jade is obsessed with season three’s numbers
Working alongside Ethan and Tabitha, Jade’s research has revealed some curious details about the numbers, but they haven’t yet given her a meaningful pattern by the events of Of season 3, episode 6. By now, Jade has learned that there are four numbers on each piece of paper, some are written backwards, some are repeated with multiple numbers, some are written in cursive, some numbers are reversedand some start above 9,000. Only a few of the numbers were explicitly pointed out to the public, including “1864” and “2659.”
The only distant tree that also has glass bottles hanging from it is the one that Tabitha and Miranda used to travel to the lighthouse.
Jade believes that these numbers could be the key to solving the city’s other mysteries.as the meaning of Ofthe symbol of and the children’s story “Anghkooey”. However, he has not yet discovered exactly what the four numbers on each piece of paper correlate to and what they have to do with the distant tree’s powers. Still, Jade has a compelling theory about what the numbers could mean, which could relate to the story of each person trapped in Of.
Bottle numbers probably don’t correlate with dates
Jade’s theory about them being years appears to have been debunked
THE The main theory Jade has for the meaning of the numbers so far is that each of them can be correlated to a date. What these dates could be is also unknown, but the four-number pattern could indicate a year. If they are years, then each number could mean the year in which OfThe characters of were trapped in the city, explaining why some of them repeat themselves. The number “1864” could therefore be linked to the Civil War soldier Jade saw in visions in the city. At the same time, Tabitha apparently debunks this theory by pointing out that “2659” would not fit this pattern.
Numerous fan theories have also emerged since the numbers were introduced. Some believe the numbers are measurements of distances to figure out where distant trees have moved, while others speculate they correlate with street addresses. Alternatively, the truth may lie in the theory that Jim subscribes to: numbers have no meaningand Jade may never find a pattern that gives her the answers she seeks. Although the hope is that Of will at least reveal who wrote the numbers and why, it’s always possible they could be a red herring for the city to keep residents confused.
