Now he leads It’s always sunny in Philadelphiaby Kaitlin Olson High potentialwhich follows Morgan, a high-potential intellectual who becomes a consultant for the LAPD’s Major Crimes divisionusually in partnership with detective Karadec (Daniel Sunjata).
Since its debut in September, the series has held steady in the ratings for ABC’s Tuesday 10 p.m. time slot. That being said, High potential recently set viewership records, with episode 5, “Croaked,” garnering 6.83 million viewers in seven days of linear airing, but jumping to 10.49 million viewers upon its post-airing arrival on Hulu. In episode 6, “Hangover,” in addition to a complicated murder case, it also introduces a new subplot that could change the trajectory of the series. This all comes down to one of its final scenes, which features Morgan writing on the police station door.

High Potential Episode 6 Sets Up a New Romance for Morgan
Fully understanding Morgan’s motivation for writing on the door requires revisiting some of the more subtle clues throughout the book. High potential episode 5 that results in your actions. It all starts when the the new police station janitor, Tom (JD Prado)approaches her about staining the glass doors with fingers covered in chip residue. Although not defensive, Morgan manages to avoid serious trouble, but as a former cleaner and high-potential intellectual, she immediately recognizes that the conversation is not just about her eating behavior. Later, Tom approaches her again about the mess on her work desk.
So instead of waiting for Tom to work up the courage to say what he really wants to say to her, Morgan makes things easier by giving him her number.
Morgan knew immediately High potential episode 5 that Tom was trying to flirt with herhence why he kept approaching her. Luckily for him, it doesn’t seem like the LAPD’s unconventional consultant is immune to his charming ways. So instead of waiting for Tom to work up the courage to say what he really wants to say to her, Morgan makes things easier by giving him her number. That said, she chooses to do this in a more creative and thoughtful way – by writing on the glass door of the police station with chip residue.

There is clear chemistry between Karedec and Morgan
Morgan probably finds Tom interesting and cuteotherwise she wouldn’t have given him her number so boldly. While giving her a proper love interest in High Potential would be a good way to diversify her narrative, it could mean bad news for her current relationship with Karadec. Currently, the program has discovered that Morgan has two ex-husbands, the missing Roman Sinquerra, and Ludo Radovic (Taran Killam), Elliot’s father, with whom she has a good platonic relationship. It is unclear, however, whether he is also the father of the youngest child.
That said, there’s no denying it there is chemistry between Morgan and Karadec in High potential – something that could turn into something romantic in the future. With Tom in the picture, at least, any chance of that coming to fruition in the near future is eliminated, as the police procedural can focus on Morgan’s new romance. The growing relationship could also impact office dynamics, considering Tom also works at the same LAPD precinct.

Ultimately, there is no denying the tension between Morgan and Karadec, and High potential develops it in a way that leaves the door open for eventual romance. Although getting together now is exciting and Tom’s presence on the show slows down that process. That said, it seems HHigh potentialMorgan’s plan for Karadec is a “will they/won’t they” case — a tried-and-tested romantic trope on longer-form network shows. It also provides a more satisfying payoff when they finally get together.
It’s true that ABC’s High Potential may deviate from the original vision of the romance, but it’s safe to say that it won’t entirely ignore the romantic aspect between Morgan and Karadec.
For what it’s worth, High potentialoriginal version in French, IPHalso started with a similar dynamic for their version of Morgan and Karadec — Morgane Alvaro and Adam Karadec. The couple only stayed together after the first year. Granted that the ABC High potential may deviate from the original vision of the novel, but it’s safe to say it won’t entirely ignore the romantic aspect between Morgan and Karadec. So it’s safe to say that Tom’s arrival will be a temporary romantic liaison for her.
