What does this mean for welcome to Derry
The prequel will still be largely based on the original novel
New images provide the best view Welcome to Derrycharacters and further reveal the story of the prequel. The prequel will bring to life many of the interludes and history that Mike discovers during his researchalong with the chilling story he hears from his father. Although Welcome to Derry happens before This and Chapter Twothe Hanlon family will still be central to the central narrative of the nine-episode prequel series and will be intertwined with Pennywise’s previous reign of terror.
Despite seeing the Losers Club story end in Chapter Twois ending, the images show that an ancient generation of children will be at the center of Welcome to Derry. Given the way Pennywise preys on children, at least some of those children will likely die horrific deaths. At the same time, they can provide the same kind of youthful optimism, hope, unity, and resilience that the Losers Club had, making the prequel feel even more thematically connected to the films and novels that preceded it.
Our Take on Welcome to Derry Images
They are intriguing and intentionally hide Pennywise
The story is based on interludes from This romance is a good omenensuring the prequel remains grounded in King’s source material. It appears the new series will still have close literal and thematic connections while also breaking new narrative ground. Instead of showing Pennywise in the images, Stephen King’s best villain of all time is being saved for the series, with the demonic entity taking the form of the giant bird, Pennywise the dancing clown, and other terrifying guises in Welcome to DerryIt’s a terrifying and moving story.
