Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2: Obelisk Operation Walkthrough

The newest update for Warhammer 40,000: Marine 2 adds a new PvE operation called “Obelisk,” a high-risk mission against the forces of Chaos. A chaotic flow of energy is spreading, so your goal is to destroy its energy source and any enemies defending it. With the right equipment, you can earn great rewards by completing this operation with other Space Marines.

You can board the “Obelisk” Operation on any difficulty, including the new Lethal difficulty on Space Marine 2. This setting is the most challenging, featuring much stronger enemies, limited ammo, and less protection as your armor does not regenerate quickly. Majoris enemies are also much harder to kill, but succeeding in lethal missions can unlock new cosmetics from this operation.

Bring the best weapons against chaos

The class you choose when starting “Obelisk” The mission determines which skills and weapons you can use in your loadout. When you have a full squad within this Operation, it's good to have these three archetypes chosen between you and other players:

  • Vanguard
  • Bulwark
  • Sniper/Tactical

All of these classes have a good variety of equipment and abilities to help deal with the Chaos enemies you'll encounter during this mission. The Vanguard can dive into enemy hordes using its Grapnel Launcher, while the Bulwark class in Space Marine 2 can use their shield to defend allies. Meanwhile, a flexible class like Tactics can help your team adapt to situationsor you can have a Sniper to deal with stronger enemies.

Another good class for “Obelisk” mission is the Heavy archetype, which can replace a Bulwark in your squad if you want your team to be aggressive instead of defensive.

The right arsenal can also make this operation much easier, especially at the beginning of the mission. Although you will pick up different weapons as you progress “Obelisk,” Here are some great firearms and other tools to use when you join the Operation:

How to Access the Obelisk Control Console

Defeat new enemies and explore the ruins of war

Space Marine 2 character using Sacred Relic to illuminate the corrupt darkness in Operation "Obelisk"

Landing on “Obelisk” The operation will first see you fight some scattered groups of enemies on the way to an elevator. During this first objective, you will encounter a new enemy in Space Marine 2recent update – the Enlightened Tzaangor. This elite enemy type is a Chaos minion atop a floating platform, which uses spinning attacks to damage you and your allies.

Tzaangor Enlightened isn't too difficult to beat with a flashy finisher as your team advance to the elevator that takes you to a bridge. You will be immediately attacked upon exiting the elevator, so be prepared for some carnage immediately. When you reach the bridge, your next objective is cross a tomb below him, deep underground where a battle has devastated most of the planet's surface.

The tomb is visible through a set of doors marked by bright blue plants that grow in an arch around them. Dark corruption permeates this area, causing your character to take damage if they remain in dark places. To combat this, collect a Holy Relic to repel the darkness around you and regenerate squad members' health with your light.

Enemy waves will attack your squad while you are slowed by the Holy Relic, making it difficult to take down enemies. While your squad is still protected by the artifact's light, ptie the Holy Relic to pedestals that you find in the tomb to regain access to your equipment. Stopping to deal with enemies and then picking up the Relic again to continue through the tomb is the trick of this new mechanic in Space Marine 2.

Once you've gone far enough into the tomb, you can place the Holy Relic on an altar near the Obelisk control consoles. You have to take the time to reactivate two different consoles staying close to them to complete this phase of the Operation. Since each console is inside corrupted areas, you need to have squad members switch positions near them to maintain your progress before someone dies due to corruption.

How to rotate the obelisk replica

Find the way out of the tomb

Once both consoles have been reactivated, you will need to continue past the tomb using the Holy Relic. Your squad can explore and stop near altars to fend off the forces of Chaos as you advance, allowing you to advance at a steady pace. Eventually, you will emerge from the tomb and see the titular Obelisk in front of you.

At this point, your new goal is align the huge islands around the Obelisk spinning the floating debris around him. By standing near a Chaos altar, you can cause the islands to rotate until a path forms. Doing this multiple times restores the surrounding terrain, giving your squad a clear path to the main control console of the Obelisk itself.

How to defeat the wizard boss

Destroy the shields protecting the heretic

Space Marine 2 giant Chaos enemy from Operation "Obelisk"

Reaching the Obelisk command console will pit your squad in a boss fight against the Sorcerer, a Chaos wizard protected by a large energy shield. You need destroy the corrupt orbs that hover around the shield to diminish his integrity, causing the boss to be exposed. Latest DLC weapons in Space Marine 2 will make quick work of these orbs, giving you a chance to counterattack the boss and his minions.

As you do this, the Sorcerer will attempt to summon purple auras of Chaos beneath you to deal damage. Simply dodge the AoE circles that the Sorcerer creates to avoid getting hurt during the boss fight. Several skull projectiles will also slowly travel towards your Space Marine, tracking your character and causing damage if you don't avoid them in time.

The Sorcerer is an elusive enemy when his shield disappears, as the boss teleports across the battlefield quickly. Despite this, a few well-placed shots will eliminate this enemy, allowing your squad to rotate the Obelisk and complete the mission. Finishing the “Obelisk” Operation in Warhammer 40,000: Marine 2 you'll earn plenty of XP, as well as a slayer rating based on how many enemies you've killed.
