Walking Dead makes Negan’s iconic bat Lucille even more terrifying by letting ‘her’ talk (no, seriously)

Undead
is the ultimate great evil, Neganis a notoriously foul-mouthed, “head first, ask questions later” type of guy, with his hostile rivalry with Rick and the rest of his group resulting in multiple battles, an all-out war and the deaths of many characters. on both sides. Using his signature barbed wire baton, nicknamed “Lucille”To enact his violence, this cruel tool helped Negan maintain his power, with a bizarre example of Lucille uttering actual words, making her even more terrifying as a weapon.

First introduced as an antagonist in The walking dead #100Negan became an immediate and credible threat to Rick and his fellow survivors of the zombie apocalypse after he murdered Glenn with his bat, Lucille, by bashing Glenn in the head to bloody effect.

In additional material from The Walking Dead Deluxe#100 titled “Small Bites” – a microseries that transforms iconic Walking Dead events into intentionally comical yet incredibly R-rated tales – Negan once again uses Lucille to kill Glenn, only this time, he is goaded by Lucille to “give me brains!” with Negan happily agreeing to his request moments later.

Negan’s Lucille craves blood and brains and isn’t afraid to say so

The Walking Dead Deluxe#100 – “Small Bites” – 2024 (Derek Hunter)

The Walking Dead, Negan, with a disturbingly serene smile on his face, bashes Glenn's head with Lucille

A speaking role that adds even more disturbing layers to Negan’s already over-the-top characterization, Lucille revealing her ability to speak happened seconds before Negan introduced her to Glenn’s face, with Negan prefacing the moment by saying, “…you see, Lucille It runs a tight ship here, and that’s exactly what has to happen…” — Lucille encouraging him further with a song “Gimme brains!” Exclaiming: “As you wish, dear!” as he brings Lucille down on Glenn with crushing force, Lucille’s speaking not only transforms her into a much more terrifying “character,” but also one that pulls back the curtain on Negan’s psyche.

By having Lucille speak not once but twice (she gets very excited after the first crack to Glenn’s skull, shouting “Give me more!” in a deeply frightening way), this story paints Negan – already a sociopath head-on – in an even more sadistic light, with fans finally learning what’s really going on in his head when Lucille becomes insatiably “thirsty.” Curiously, This detail could have worked normally Undead comic continuity as a way of portraying Negan’s frayed mental statewith precedence coming from the moment Rick imagined himself talking to his late wife on a disconnected phone after the prison massacre.

Lucille having an insatiable bloodlust matches her owner’s equally savage mentality

UndeadThe film’s creator, Robert Kirkman, has already revealed that there are at least a dozen more “Small Bites” stories ready to be published, with the the next chapters will likely continue Lucille’s journey as a relentless reflection of a character who is without a doubt one of the worst Undead villains who have already done this. In a sick and twisted way, Negan and Lucille were made for each other, with this comedic short hammering home a disturbing symbiosis that highlights the raw yet humorous nature of this iconic Undead the villain hears it whenever he starts to see red.
