In Undead
In the comic book universe, creator Robert Kirkman gave fans a surprise ending that jumped forward several years and showed the rest of Rick Grime’s ragtag band of survivors as they settle into the new world they fought tooth and nail to create. Now, five years after the official end of the comics, Robert Kirkman teases the idea of possibly continuing the seriesgetting fans excited for something that could very well happen.
Concluding its epic undead run in 2019 after 193 issues, Undead ended in a way that gave hope for a sequel, but also tied things up to the point that if it never happened, “Old” Carl, Judge Michonne, and the rest of the people who populate the Commonwealth still have a fitting ending for them. call your own.
In the “Letter Hacks” column at the end of the The Walking Dead Deluxe #100, Robert Kirkman admits that “…it is possible that we will continue with The Walking Dead Deluxe #194…,” lightly teasing fans in a way that simply cannot be ignored.
Robert Kirkman says he may continue The Walking Dead when the Deluxe editions come to an end
The Walking Dead Deluxe #100 – 2024 (Robert Kirkman, Charlie Adlard and Dave McCaig)
When asked if fans can “expect to see more” of what Brian K. Vaughn wrote The Walking Dead: The Alien issue of the spinoff, Kirkman has doubts, but admits that “you never know”. Responding further that “once Clementine Book 3 releases, there will be no news Undead comic book stuff… ever,” Kirkman softens this devastating blow by admitting: “I mean, is it possible that we continue with The Walking Dead Deluxe #194 and beyond! Who knows what the future holds!” officially teasing that most original Undead content may finally be in the cards for fans of the series.
What’s interesting about continuing Undead with the original characters, rather than making another spinoff or extending The Walking Dead: The Alien one-shot is simple: zombies are no longer a big threat. Set more than two decades after the death of Rick Grimes, The walking dead #193 revealed a world where, yes, the undead are still a thing, but now they’re more of an inconvenience, made clear by Maggie and Glenn’s son Hershel, turning them into a sideshow attraction. Able to focus on the new world presented and what Rick Grime’s legacy actually created, a hypothetical series sequel would be something completely new.
Undead It has the potential to promote your already finished story in the comic book universe
Fortunately for fans of Undead, the franchise remains strong on the small screenwith several spinoffs of AMC’s long-running but similarly concluded live-action series such as The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol and the second season of The Walking Dead: Dead Cityeffectively continuing the spirit of the comics in a way that successfully expands this zombified world first introduced in 2003. Regardless of whether Robert Kirkman gets his due with his tantalizing tease of a Undead follow-up, there is more than enough content for fans to see until the time comes.
