Vanderpump Rules season 12 will return to Bravo in the new year, but the show will feature an entirely new cast of SUR-vers who may be able to save the series by recapturing the magic of the original show. When it started, Vanderpump Rules featured a cast of waiters and bartenders who worked at Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant, SUR. The West Hollywood bar and lounge, called SUR as an acronym for Sexy Unique Restaurant, had a tight-knit group of employees. The SUR lineup worked in the service industry for pay while their dreams of modeling, acting, or other entertainment ventures came to fruition.
The original cast of Vanderpump Rules it included Jax Taylor, Stassi Schroeder, Scheana Shay, Katie Maloney, Tom Schwartz, Kristen Doute and Tom Sandoval, who worked at SUR before the show began. The cast, aided by Lisa’s wise and subversive wisdom, analyzed their relationships on camera as their group of friends went through serious changes. Although the show began with Stassi and Jax as the ruling couple, Kristen and Sandoval’s drama was highlighted early on while Katie and Schwartz’s relationship moved in a slow, steady spiral. The cast was magnetic and the new SUR-vers joining the series await the same fate.
Vanderpump Rules Season 12 Renewed With a Twist
A new cast will take over
After more than a decade Vanderpump Rules With many of the original cast members still attached, the series will return to Bravo next season with a complete overhaul. Announced alongside the series’ renewal, Vanderpump Rules executive producer Alex Baskin shared that instead of bringing back the show’s original cast to continue the somewhat exaggerated drama of recent seasonsthe show will return next season with an all-new story to count. While many were hoping to see more of Ariana Madix after the Scandoval drama, the move isn’t exactly shocking.
The new cast of Vanderpump Rules has not been revealed, but Alex shared that like the early days of the show’s original cast, the new faces will be SUR servers working at Lisa’s restaurant. With so many entertainment industry hopefuls migrating to Los Angeles in search of fame and working in the service industry to pay their bills, the premise of Vanderpump Rules has the unique ability to always be ready for a reboot. Although some of the original cast feel their stories aren’t finished, they won’t find themselves telling those stories in the future. Vanderpump Rules moving forward.
The former Vanderpump cast will not return in any capacity
Some cast members will appear in the valley
Although many were hopeful to see more of Ariana, especially her renewed feud with Lala Kent, the cast of Vanderpump Rules season 11 will not return to the series in any way. There were some loose threads that may need to be tied up for the show, like James Kennedy and Ally Lewber’s next steps in their relationship, or Ariana’s struggles with her longtime friend Scheana after the latter accepted Sandoval back into her life, but it has been reported that the cast will be presented elsewhere, moving to The Valley, now that they are no longer linked Vanderpump Rules.
The Valley, one Vanderpump spin-off featuring Jax, his ex-wife Brittany Cartwright and Kristen, began in 2024. Sharing the stories of former cast members who were fired after Vanderpump Rules Season 8 and their friends living in Valley Village, the series was a dramatic look at the group’s lives as they moved into a different phase with marriage, children and mortgages on their minds. Jax and Brittany’s marital problems were predicted on the series, leaving the couple headed for divorce. Scheana, Lala and Schwartz are rumored to be making appearances in The Valley next season.
The original cast of Vanderpump Rules was struggling in recent seasons
The magic of the show is gone
Although Vanderpump Rules is quite different from what it was in its early days, the show performed great in its first few seasons. The drama between the group of friends was real and rawproving that Bravo took advantage of the right cast when they started acting Vanderpump Rules. In the series’ early seasons, Stassi and Scheana consistently clashed, while Kristen and Sandoval’s relationship fell apart on screen. Kristen, who dated James, returned to the show during Vanderpump Rules Season 10 after it was discovered that Sandoval cheated on Ariana with Raquel Leviss, James’ ex-fiancée.
Although the drama of later seasons was intense Vanderpump Rules started to veer off course around season 7. Things slowed down in the lives of the cast members, who were approaching their 30s and starting to find themselves in serious relationships or interested in having children. Their lives were changing, which meant the show was changing too. Instead of investing in intense drama, the cast sought to calm down, which doesn’t always make for a great reality show. In addition to Scandoval, the series’ later seasons saw the show’s original magic fading quickly.
A new cast of SUR-vers will recapture the original magic
They can bring a genuine tone to the series
Although things have ended for the current cast of Vanderpump Rules, the new cast could save the series entirely. While the original cast aged and slowed down, the reboot will feature a new cast of young SUR-vers who are just starting their lives. The drama and intensity of Lisa’s group of employees chosen to be part of the show will certainly be more interesting to watch, especially after two seasons of similar stories happening. Even though the original cast will be missed, bringing in a new group of SUR employees will be great.
Although viewers may not know until they see the new cast on screen, the producers of Vanderpump Rules will likely work hard to ensure they can recapture the series’ original magic. Finding a pre-existing peer group of SUR employees to ensure there are already dynamics in place can be difficultbut knowing the Vanderpump Rules production team, they’ve probably been exploring things for months. Although some adjustments are needed, the new cast of Vanderpump Rules may find the show’s fate in their hands, but hopefully, they’ll know what to do.
