Restitched, a passion project inspired by Little Big Planet franchise and other UGC (User Generated Content) games, has just received a new trailer. Developers Trixel Creative began pre-production work on the title in 2020, and it has now reached an early Alpha stage.
Restitched is a 2.5D platformer and an intriguing adventure starring the customizable plush Stuffy, a little bear who adventures through a big world full of obstacles. The game plans to heavily emphasize customization and level design, allowing players to create and share creative levels and projects with the community through the Steam Workshop.
Restitched is currently in the early Alpha stage of developmentand development team Creative Trixel revealed what to expect in a new trailer posted to its YouTube channel. Trixel Creative reminds fans that the next title is still difficult and will have “many more rounds of polishing, future additions and general changes before release,“, but the trailer gives potential fans an idea of what to expect.
Recosturado is a fan-made love letter to the UGC genre
The team is made up of amateurs and fans of the genre
The new trailer is the first look at the Restitched title in over two years and shows that Trixel Creative has been hard at work since the game's last preview. Trixel Creative is developing the title as an opportunity to grow and learn, and a chance to create a game that they themselves wish existed.
The trailer release was an opportunity for the team to show the community what they were working on, but Trixel is also using the video to communicate with fans. In a comment on the trailer, Trixel shares a heartfelt “thank you” with fans, stating that they “We are very touched by your encouragement.” The team writes that they have already started taking note of the feedback shared in the comments and will continue to improve and work Restitched to turn it into a game tailor-made for the UGC community.
Our take: Restitched could fill the LBP-shaped hole left in the market
LittleBigPlanet 3 was officially delisted this year
The original Little Big Planet, developed by Media Molecule, it was released in 2008 as a launch title for the PlayStation 3 and has since received several sequels and spinoffs. The title starred the charming canvas critter Sackboy, as he continued adventures with friends in side-scrolling platform levels with an emphasis on creativity and self-expression.
After 10 years of live service, Little Big Planet 3 and all of its DLC was officially removed from the PlayStation Store in October. LittleBigPlanet may now have reached the end of its era, but Restitched appears poised to continue exactly where the popular LBP franchise stopped. Judging by the first look at the state of Resewn, the team appears to be building a strong candidate to be the spiritual successor to LBP 3.
It's clear from the way the team interacts with the community that this is a project by the player and for the players. As the trailer description states, Restitched is destined to be”a unique love letter to the user-generated content (UGC) genre and our many incredible experiences within it.“For those who miss the playful and creative space that Little Big Planet offered, Restitched It could be a title to keep an eye on.
