There are still 20th Century Studios projects acquired during the Fox purchase that have not yet been rebooted or continued, but several are already in the works. The status of 20th Century Pictures properties as "Disney films" is debatable. Some, like Avatar, The Movie Bob's Burgers, and 2022 Prey, were embraced by Disney with open arms. Others, like the Infernal restart and The Boston Strangler, starring Keira Knightley, are less associated with the House of Mouse family. With that said, there are several Fox films coming out in the coming years.

One of the most talked about aspects of the acquisition was the Marvel properties that Fox owned were now available for the MCU. While there has always been some speculation that the franchises could be revived within the MCU, with some of the actors from the Fox universe reprising their roles, Deadpool and Wolverine seems to have closed the book on this.

The film, in part, served as a love letter and a farewell to the Fox universe of Marvel characters, with characters like Jennifer Garner's Elektra, Chris Evans' Human Torch, and even Channing Tatum's canceled version of Gambit. . While these cameos were well-received, they felt like a way to leave these versions of the characters in the past and move forward with the MCU's new take on them.
