Ultimate Sandman makes his destructive debut, ruining a perfectly nice family vacation with Parker
Ultimate Spider-Man #15 – Written by Jonathan Hickman; Art by David Messina; Main Cover by Marco Checchetto
The Sandman is one of the most famous Spider-Man villains of all time, created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in Amazing Spider-Man #4, and its introduction to the Ultimate Universe is an exciting development for Hickman's series. While details are still scarce on this new version of the sand-powered Marvel villain, the new Sandman appears to be an immediate threat to Peter's family over the holidays. Since MJ and the kids know Peter's superhero secret, they could take even more risks when the Ultimate Sandman attacks, as was already predicted on the cover of Ultimate Spider-Man #15, with Mayday Parker.
With decades of Marvel history and a memorable big-screen debut played by Thomas Haden Church, the Sandman was bound to enter the Earth-6160 canon eventually. However, there already appear to be some major differences between this variant and the main continuity version. Since Sandman will hit the scene with the Parkers over the holidays, he likely won't stay in the New York area and also won't be part of the emerging Ultimate Sinister Six, despite being in the original lineup. This Sandman could have Flint Marko's classic alias, William Baker, or be an entirely new character.
Sam Raimi's 'Spider-Man 3' Villains Could Be Descending Into Definitive Spider-Man Series
The 2007 film featured Sandman, Green Goblin, and Venom as antagonists
Sandman is actually the last villain to appear prominently in Raimi's trilogy to be teased by Ultimate Spider-Manand those who fought against Peter in Spider-Man 3 will have great prominence one year after the beginning of the comic book of this new timeline. A technological version of Venom is slowly infiltrating Peter's life, and although Harry Osborn's Green Goblin has taken a heroic turn in the Ultimate Universe, his personality can still change at any time. Just the latest reinvention of a classic Spidey antagonist, Ultimate Sandman is sure to shake up Peter's new life as a happy, seemingly well-adjusted family man.
However Ultimate Sandman takes shape, a bold new version of the iconic Spider-Man villain will make a grand debut in the expanding Ultimate Universe.
As he flips a bunch of cars and puts Mayday Parker in danger, on Checchetto's cover to Ultimate Spider-Man #15, the new version of Sandman will be a terrifying force to be reckoned with. That is, if the issue's cover art is taken at face value and isn't a fake masking a truly different reimagining of the sand-manipulating character. However Ultimate Sandman takes shape, a bold new take on the iconic Spider-Man villain will make a big debut in the expansion Final Universe.
